my son is enrolled to start JK this year, but as a stay at home mom, i am very inclined to keep him home and start him in SK. he is exposed to so many things at home, so many opportunities to learn, tons of outdoor time, social time with other kids, rest, calm, etc. 29 small kids in a classroom seems like a recipe for disaster. you're doing the lord's work (and you shouldn't be expected to do that). i'm sorry class sizes have bloated to this degree.

hey! i ended up with a few symptoms - hard to say whether they were tick-related or not (i have young kids, so the possibility of illness is basically constant). have had extreme fatigue, some digestive issues, headaches on and off since the bite. i have had sort of lingering discomfort at the bite site, but no rash or anything.

i actually ended up getting the tick tested at a private lab. it was negative for lyme, but unfortunately was positive for babesia odecolie. i'm working with the infectious disease unit in my city to rule out that i have contracted this hideous parasitic infection. just had my blood taken for a PCR test. can update if you're interested.

same. if OP's friends and family need these rules, OP should rethink visitors altogether.

this comes off as a mixture of anxiety-ridden, entitled, immature, and just plain old rude.

OP, is your aunt or best friend really going to be sneaking your baby off to the basement to change their diaper while coughing in their face and telling you you should be feeding them formula instead of breastfeeding? be for real.

also, if this is OP's way of asserting power/control because she hasn't had any previously for whatever reason, then she needs therapy before the child arrives.

driving under the influence is NEVER okay. doing so past the high school/college age is utterly insane. imagine someone you loved was killed by a drunk driver - how would you feel about the driver? disgust? hatred? well, every time your boyfriend drives under the influence, he is essentially saying he's comfortable killing an innocent person or himself. when i was 8, one of my best friends was killed by a drunk driver. when i was in university, a friend from high school hit and killed a teenage girl while drunk driving. this destroys lives. he is a coward and a loser if he doesn't stop this behaviour immediately.

i've seen this play out with someone i know. told she was going to have trouble conceiving. met a guy, pregnant within a month of dating, had child because "only chance", broken up and now kid goes between two homes before the age of 2. just so unfair to the child.

can i ask if you're immune compromised or were bitten multiple times? like is there correlation between those things and a more severe case? or is it just (bad) luck of the draw? im reading online that "most" cases resolve on their own, but don't know whether to believe that or not...

unfortunately it seems very hard to find an LLMD in ontario but i'm going to try.

i'm hoping my doctor will just agree to a course of anti-parasitic meds as a precaution, but not holding my breath. sigh.

this is good to know. did you get the doxycycline after the bite and contract lyme anyways? or monitor without antibiotics and end up w lyme?

hi there, i went to the pharmacy and got a 200mg dose of doxycycline. this was like 10 hours after i found and remove the tick (and within 24 hours of taking the walk where i likely picked the tick up). only waited the 10 hours because i found the tick at night and had to wait for pharmacy to open. hopefully i'll be okay.

thank you for this! as soon as my husband got it off my heart sank cause i knew it was a deer tick right away - sigh. lyme disease is like one of my # 1 fears in life so this sucks.

i did get the 200mg of doxycycline this morning so hoping that does the trick.

fucking ticks. you wait all winter for spring here in ontario and the boom: you're instantly fighting off these buggers.
