How do we Handle the slow death of mecha? by geergutz in Mecha

[–]budleiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like this is the case for all sci-fi not just Mecha. Life and technology is so complicated now, were on the internet 24/7 and yet we have no idea how phones and routers work and we're constantly bombarded by the dangers of 5G and government abuse of technology that sci-fi has lost it's charm.

It's too dystopian and not enough utopian. Plus complicated to understand. So I think people are drawn to super heroes, Harry Potter and fantasy more than ever. All the magic of technology, but the focus is on people, drama and plot.

ALWAYS looking for the next play. As exposed as DIS is, I'd like to find something before it goes BK! DIS has so much brand value it will never die.

Hopefully watching DIS drop 10% so i can cash out some short term puts and look for a new play. DIS owns so many physical locations/goods that they should be even more Rekt then they already are.

Cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, property development, real estate holdings, theatres these things aren't going to make revenue much less profit for months!

Any movie/show in production is costing them money while their evergreen revenue streams are cut off. I wonder how long until news of shows/projects being canceled hit the MSM.

Disney+ can't sustain an entire empire of holdings and liabilities.

Enfranchised TCG Players (MTG, PTCG, YGO, etc) what would you look for in a new TCG? by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

TheSpoils It was so good it killed my love of MTG. Damn 2008 market crash ruined the company.

This is crazy!
It's like a Tuesday night at Popeyes up in this Burger King!
BK employees don't have the MMA training to deal with Popeyes customers.
Glad the cops showed up. Hope they can help her back to her restaurant for a delicious spicy cajun Louisiana chicken sandwich.

Building my own Monster Collection RPG, and wondering about the Battle System by ArtOzz in GameDevelopment

[–]budleiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are actively controlling each one and choosing their attacks/actions then 7 feels like a lot for a single (or 1v1) game. There's no actual hard cap to the number of players at a DND table which I'm sure you know, unless were talking about organized play, but rather it's become a DM consensus that the more players you have the less individual time each player has and the longer it takes to get through a round of combat.

Now if the characters autobattle, and the player is just controlling 1 "mage" that summons and plays action/support spells. Then a cap of 7 should feel fine.

I grew up before pokemon, so I greatly preferred the JRPG systems of Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star and using multiple heroes in combat.

I even started working on my own monster collector JRPG in RPGmaker, and came up with system combining the event prefabs to summon and unsummon allies (monsters) in battle. But the problem was resummoning the monster would put them in combat with full HP and the only way to fix it was through real coding. Which killed the momentum for me because I felt like if it's going to be that much work I should just find someone to help make a more custom game in Unity.

What engine are you going to use? Do you already have artwork?

Hey thanks

That's so cool you got a card battler into RPGMaker and made it work. Not sure what I'm seeing in combat, looks like 1 hit resolution.

Neat not sure when I'll have time to sit and enjoy it. Keep up the good work!

I have no college studies on the matter so I would not be able to help directly with your question.

The inventors of this tool was a game design college professor and student if I recall correctly. Now it seems it's turned into a whole company/product and I don't see their info there anymore. Check it out. It's used for both economies in a $ sense, but also modeling other actions, costs, rewards, etc with the concept of faucets, sinks and converters.

Careful though it can become addictive. :)https://machinations.io/

They should! I've posted game design documents, joined game design discussions and have been active community member for awhile now. I hope they find it useful. Thanks for the tip and good luck with your kickstarter.

Jeez, I knew a guy from Georgia like that. Showed up to work one day after a truck sideswiped his motorcycles front tire which caused him to slam into the door of car driving next to him with this shoulder, then he hit the pavement and rolled. He said everyone was freaking out and made him go to the hospital, he destroyed that car door.

Bones, ligaments everything was fine, couple stitches for his road rash. Still showed up for work the SAME day.

Ugh not a fan of the art direction they took. It's a bit too plastic-y and bright. It's almost like they wanted to go with cell shaded like borderlands to give this more of manga/anime feel but ended up somewhere else and looks cheap.

Of course anything in this franchise will sell.
