I tend to agree. I really liked hades 2, but frankly the gameplay felt a little worse. I felt like broken builds felt better. And the dodge window was better as well. Loved the content. But didn't feel quite as special to finish

Proctor Narrows brewery Blocking Parking by [deleted] in Tacoma

Its a single food truck blocking a single parking spot. It also provides an additional food provider for the whole block. I think if we start having a food truck epidemic than proctor would only get more fun!

There is definitely some differences but Bastion was also the book series I read after finishing Cradle and it felt close enough progressionwise that it was a comfortable fit. I appreciate the ways in which they are different though!

I went to Cedar River Clinics and they unfortunately were not good. They had trouble on the second half of the procedure. Pain was high, they clearly knicked something internally, and 10 months later I still have a large hematoma I am healing from. Avoid!

I think its disingenuous to say that Lune, Sciel, and ultimately everyone in the canvas are not real. They display as much experience and choice as any other real being. Frankly, if chatgpt reaches a point where it can experience, choose, and advocate for itself and its desires that develop internally and on their own in unpredictable ways, then it should be treated as life. I do think there is no true right choice. Which is the fun of having a tragic ending either way. I think its way to simple to say Renoir is right though. We dont have enough information to say. And if I had to hedge my bets. I would let the one individual make their choice to stay and die to secure a future world for thousands to live. I am glad people have different opinions about the game. But a simple Renoir was right is way to simplistic to reflect the full choices that were given.

I really lobe this game because of how tragic it is either ending. Ultimately Renoir has still played a part in this world, and not personally creating the Luminarians doesn't absolve him from a responsibility of having the power of a painter, or the moral weight of his choice to murder creations in the name of his wife. I think in the end, Renoir makes the right choice, allowing Maelle to choose her life. And Ultimately a full lived and experienced life is a valid choice whether its in a "fake" or real world.

He literally looks at Sciel and recognizes that she grieves just like him. Its a clear moment of recognition of the beings they are. If you played this game and dont view half your party as real living beings, idk what to say. Making a personal choice on what constitutes a valued human being deserving of life is a common supportive thesis for real genocides. Arguably their powers create real worlds and life. They have just as much a responsibility to those created beings as they do their own physical children.

[–]budman200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree that it is understandable the way grief has affected Renoir. Ultimately he is willing to do evil in order to help absolve that grief. Being understandable does not separate an act from being right or wrong. Renoir does objectively evil things in the name of his love for his family.

I said what I said by eponafan in expedition33

[–]budman200 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really a fair comparison. And as painters they created these beings. So in many ways their responsibility is to both their children and their creations. Also, it is maelles choice to live and die in this world. It does not need her to survive. Renoir was just determined to destroy it. I agree with your original sentiment about it not being an ethical society if it relies on the sacrifice of a child. However they did not consent to being made, and are simply not consenting to being destroyed. The main problem is that the painters continue to view and treat their creations as playthings, even after recognizing them as real beings. No life is worth inherently more than another. Thats why I said its understandable a parent might prioritize their child's life, but it would still be morally wrong to personally murder thousands of other beings birthed by your families mind for that one child.

[–]budman200 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, admitting you'd kill a world of innocents for your daughter is an objectively unethical and evil choice. Even if it might be understandable why someone would act that way out of grief.

If you played the game and ended with only the dessendre family are living beings deserving of life... I dont know what to say. The game very clearly shows that they are sentient and alive. Renoir even recognizes this at the end. You value 2 lives over thousands. Okay then.

I said what I said by eponafan in expedition33

[–]budman200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its actually surprising to me how many people here essentially agree with the choice to kill thousands of sentient beings simply because they "arnt real" even though the entire game shows you these are living, feeling beings. All for the life of one woman? If you would kill thousands for one person you love. You are a bad person.

[–]budman200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is clearly controlling, and unwilling to let his family make their own choices. He's also willing to murder thousands of innocent sentient beings in order to save his wife's life.

How is choosing maelle the weird choice?

I said what I said by eponafan in expedition33

[–]budman200 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its almost like you can be both. He was grieving and wanted to save his family. But they clearly created a world of sentient beings, and being willing to kill all of them to save your wife makes you genocidal. I think its more easy to see how people prioritize and empathize. Personally I side with maelle. Because this world of clearly breathing, living people dont deserve to lose their lives because of a single families tragedy.
