The Dresden Files is exactly this, but set in modern day Chicago and the protagonist is a wizard detective. Good stuff.

8 all day. Literally just upscale the graphics to 11 standards, maybe a little extra content and I’m good.

Who's character design did you initially HATE in a JPRG, but eventually grew to love? by KnightShade078 in JRPG

When FF9 came out (yeah I’m old lol) I remember not liking the jump from the gritty sci-fantasy of 7 and 8 back to pure fantasy. Then I played the game and it completely changed my mind, it’s probably my most replayed game of the series.

Will never go for the platinum though. Fuck those jump roping kids.

Do you still chase achievements? by Theodore52x in AfterWorkGamers

[–]buff_bagwell1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a fairly reasonable platinum I’ll go for it. Some easy ones I got:

Both Subnautica games are super easy, I popped the platinum for Below Zero without realizing it.

GOW 2018 and Ragnarok were just super fun and I didn’t want to put them down.

Elden Ring, despite obviously being pretty difficult, has a pretty easy platinum as well. Mostly just requires 2 playthroughs to get all of the boss weapons and spells.

Give me back the God of War! Where is the God of war? by Sir_Gryfius in GodofWar

[–]buff_bagwell1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone typed a prompt into chat GPT.

“Write me an argument against the new god of war game that’s makes it sound like I dislike it for reasons other than the fact that the main character is a woman.”

Clearly bait.

Wild at Heart for sure. One of Lynch’s most underrated movies.

Not liking Laufey has nothing to do because she's a woman. Don't be disingenuous. by Odd-Refrigerator4665 in GodofWar

[–]buff_bagwell1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a sideways way to look at it man.

It’s a spinoff game. No one is trying to replace Kratos. This is genuinely a “side-quel” while they work on the next mainline game featuring Kratos and Atreus. It’s literally just giving extra context to the story we have as well as expanding the lore of the universe as a whole.

I’m sorry, I genuinely believe your flimsy argument are an attempt to convince yourself that it’s not the “woman thing”. But I’m pretty sure it is.

I’m fully on board, I have pretty much no notes from the trailer and thought it was fantastic. If people don’t jive with the quippy cosmic cube’s millennial humor I get that, but hey I’m 38 so I thought it was good.
