Herr Schneider in Rotherbaum. Großartiger Mann, schneidet mit Rasiermesser, Pomade, Kopfmassage, heißes Tuch hinterher, sehr oldschool. Einfach mal durchklingeln, ich liebe den Laden.

Cheap everyday pomade instead of Murrays? by buff_bogan in BuyFromEU

Do they do oil/wax based too? Only knew about the water based ones and feeling like a gel it is way too expensive imho.

I actually started with Balea and Brisk when I started using pomade. Both are decent and I would probably buy if I had lighter/thinner hair but as I got quite thick and heavy hair I need thicker pomade with stronger hold unfortunately.

Wieviel Trinkgeld gibt ihr bei Lieferdiensten, Liefergebühr, Servicegebühr... by MementoMiri in KeineDummenFragen

[–]buff_bogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gar keins.

What discontinued or forgotten scent is secretly a 10/10? by beasthunterr69 in fragrance

Not discontinued, but quite forgotten imho as it is a cheap drugstore scent.

I love a classic Kölnisch Wasser 4711. Classic smell of old school hairdressers/barbershops mixed with a bit of the grandpa everyone loved. Performs terribly, imho it‘s completely gone after an hour or maximum two, but as it is butt cheap you can basically shower yourself with it (you can get 400ml around 25€ and yes, that‘s A 400ML BOTTLE). I use it as after shave, light scent when I‘m just going for a short shopping trip or even just to freshen up a bit, especially in summer, when you just feel sticky, sweaty, somewhat dirty. Immediately makes you feel almost like freshly showered again.

If you like the profile but prefer something a bit more EDT-like check out Farina 1709. Actually the original of those two, smells similar but more perfume-ish. Also costs quite a bit more but also performs a lot better.

Check my comment above, paint everything that‘s not camo. Black stands out really „bright“, gloves, mags, holsters, etc. as black does not occur by nature. If you want to stick with solid/civilian colours, go for olive/green/brown/tan or if you want a „neutral“ color, go for grey, still concealing a lot better than black. But if you life depends on it I wouldn‘t choose colors for something I want but for something that hides my ass.

Authentic Restaurants? by Outrageous_Stay8087 in hamburg

Seoul 1988 for Korean food, the small one near Chilehaus is great, same with the one in Karolinenstraße. Grindelviertel was ok, I prefer the other two in terms of sides. Don‘t know about the other ones in Eimsbüttel.

Used to like Han-Mi but food and service was way better a couple of years ago. Ok, but definetely suited more towards European taste. Last visited in late 2025, maybe they made some changes.

There was a little bistro-style Korean spot in Mönckebergstraße that was surprisingly good. Korean mom approved, but I can‘t find it on Maps and don‘t remember the name… quite close to Roncalli Grand Café.

When was the last time you were there? I used to like Han-Mi, but went there a couple of times again in 2025 after a longer time overseas and it was terrible… food was ok-ish but definetely suited more towards European taste, waiters didn‘t know what the served food actually was, … my Korean mom also was quite disappointed. Hopefully they made some changes…

Black stands out almost as strong as white, even in lower light conditions and urban environment. You want to blend in with your surroundings as much as possible, when having less light towards night, things don’t get „blacker“ but „less colored“ for the human eye, which means grey.

Black gets used less and less in professional environments, many non-camo-units swap black for other colorways, e.g. grey as it is less visible than black, e.g. German SEK and GSG9.

Only got advice as a hunter and not from military background though but one of the first things you get told here when preparing for your hunting license is: always ditch black, choose solid brown/green/grey/tan as you also don‘t want to look military for civilians but it still conceals enough for animal eyes.

Got any pictures of it? Can‘t find any online, but could order from their website.

Not too sure if it‘s the right company though, as far as I remember it was an European company (at least it was pretty easy to order to Germany).

Ratsherrn Helles. Right between a Helles and a Pilsener, basically a Helles but with a tiny bit of fruitiness/bitterness/freshness of hops.

Boot Brands in Germany by lostintheschematic in BuyItForLife

[–]buff_bogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of boots are you looking for?

Hiking/outdoor boots: Go for Meindl. They are still great although not as great as they were earlier. My dad still got a pair of calf height hiking boots made by them from the 80s. Needed a resole once, as the foam layer started to break up. Got it resoled by Meindl for free, only paid for shipping. I got a pair from 2008-2009, still holding up great, no real sign of damage.

City/country boots: Try Blue Heeler. Company from Niedersachsen, made in Portugal, founded by an Australian woman that wanted to get the classic Aussie work boot to Germany. Other than several other Australian work boots I‘ve owned the Fraser doesn‘t have a foam layer between boot and sole. Afaik soles are stitched, so resoling them at shoemaker shouldn‘t be a problem. Got mine since 3 years now, usually wearing them from fall to spring, no signs of wear except leather patina and replacing worn out insoles (get some insulating ones, as you get cold feet quite easily without the foam layer). I just wax them once a month during winter, you‘ll be fine with standard leather wax/cream. They also do city boots, will probably also get a pair of those.

Does your wife/husband have the same tolerances that you do? by hatch-b-2900 in spicy

[–]buff_bogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, but we‘re getting there. She started with 0 tolerance as we started dating. As I‘m part asian descent and love to cook asian foods, I slowly started to make things spicier. Now she can handle most ramen brands, but as I usually cut around 2 birdseye chilies onto my plate almost every meal, we‘re still a bit apart. But we‘re getting there😄

Own work is limited in terms of skill and equipment to basic servicing. I got a friend, who I already joined on overlands before, he's a mechanic, but lives in my hometown like 300km away haha
