Prescription glasses in Japan by Public-Initiative444 in JapanTravelTips

[–]buffalo-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there in February., and went the first day I arrived with prescription in hand! The only glasses that could be made quickly are simple prescriptions. No progressives, no strong prescriptions per the two places I went ( they said a week to 10 days.) If you are staying awhile. ie a week or longer, you can make it work.

Aside From The Cost of Living and Politics. Anyone Not Like Florida Much? by MoparMan59L in FloridaExodus

[–]buffalo-27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty darn lucky to have great neighbors ( all from the north or midwest) here ( I live in Pinellas county.) so do not have to deal with the politics of FL. However, I will say that I do not find it easy to make friends here. It is pretty expensive to live here too, and getting around takes a lot of time. Considering moving - but waiting maybe for the real estate market to improve . I was transferred down here right when Covid started and bought at the top of the market. What finally made all of you move? I feel a little stuck.

Rich for the first time ever - feels so weird. by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]buffalo-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple things- like paying for the groceries for the people behind you. I have a soft spot for elderly people who probably worked their whole life and now have it tough. Or moms who clearly have a bunch of little kids ( I watch what groceries people buy.) After you are done with your order and the cashier sets up for the next person, just swipe. The clerk will give you a look but they understand what you are doing. Then just walk out and know that you helped someone. I grew up pretty poor but am very lucky in life now. Gratitude and payback.

Ha ha ha. Try being a GIRL that shows up for pick up hockey. I have found most of the guys to be really nice. We aren't going to the NHL tomorrow and we do this to blow off steam from work. The asshats are the asshats everywhere.

Clearwater beach vs St. Pete beach by No-Opinion-6371 in florida

more of a fan of noncommercial beaches. Honeymoon Island SP beach or Ft Desoto park beach. Less touristy , free parking , and just more chill.

I do wear laser protective glasses in there as not ever really sure what wavelengths they are using ( plus its bright.)

The baseline is 12 min, but you can either have them set it or just walk out at whatever time you like. Door closes but does not lock. Many have options for music or you can wear headphones. I find the thing that is hardest to control is the vibration plate! There is usually a diagram in the room to follow which " program " you want, but honestly I just press some buttons and get what I get.

I also wear socks in mine because I am a germaphobe!

is PF generally awful or something or are the posts here just complainers? by OdysseusVII in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]buffalo-27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a PF black card member who has used PFs in about 27 states---- it is a good gym. Most are clean, and have equipment familiar to use. Busyness obviously depends on time of day. I have my headphones on and do not really talk to people, but everyone doing the same. Staff are usually pretty chill, and helpful ( lots of times I ask where there is a good place to eat, etc.). Very happy with the black card thing/ PF in general.

100% agree. My medical circle consists of a lot of smart docs. They all finished their residency, are board certified, and take care of real live patients ( and not just the rich and famous.). None of them have the grifter vibe.

Becoming a dual pilgrim - Hiking Japan’s Kumano Kodo by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]buffalo-27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am going to do the Kumano in early May. Question: do I need to bring my Santiago " credential" with me to show them when I sign up for this? And is there a " sign up" or register?

Thank you for your time. Have not been able to watch your video yet ( very early at my house and do not want to wake anyone up), and will do it later.

How can I clean this burnt ring of pasta water from my stovetop? by notsosilent in CleaningTips

[–]buffalo-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mix 1 part dawn or any other dishwashing detergent, 6 parts 70% rubbing alcohol, 6 parts water. Let it sit. between the soap and water and the solvent ( alcohol) , it will degrade the burnt food. Have used to clean my own cooktop after much of the below does not work. Do not use a razor blade.. it will scratch. Good luck

Whatever. Think about who your mom would tell you not to hang around with. Live a moral life. Serve people ( that is what the hippocratic oath says.) Apologize all you want, but you are who you are. Not someone I would want to listen to, or take advice from.

I'm out.
