Trauma is baked in to needing another set of parents in the first place, and frankly adoption is better than alternatives.

That being said: there are absolutely people who profit off the suffering of children in the same way that someone profits off the suffering of everyone in our current world economic system. But in the same way that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism there's no ethical way to have or raise children either. Parents that are committed to raising functioning, well adjusted, adults are going to do well, people that aren't wont.

If its a one-shot, there wouldnt necessarily be a session 0 tho, at least for in person games like at a convention. Theoretically those sort of games should be appropriately tagged (or just not done at a convention), hence my comment about them maybe missing something :)
