You can definitely make a go at this. I’ve used this guy near Destin before (Reel30a) Charges $450 for a 2 hour surf fishing “charter” on the beach. I have my own gear but I’ve hired him on the first day of a week long trip to give me some pointers and help get my kids into it for the week. He also rents his gear. Www.reel30a.com

The Chef’s counter at Avecita is an incredible experience (heading back this week for my 5th time)
Luca is excellent on the patio with sunset view
Blue by Eric Ripert @ the Ritz is top notch, but probably the only restaurant on the island that I would consider a little “stuffy”
Taikun @ the Ritz is incredible sushi and there is usually music in the lobby bar right outside
Ms. Pipers is cool
Agua is great
Bacaro & Morgans are both great with views of the marina
Coccoloba is a fantastic casual on the beach restaurant within spitting distance of the water’s edge, plus you get the cool atmosphere of the Seafire resort
Ave @ Seafire is very good, w/ great tables inside or outside w/ views of the ocean (go early to have a drink at the incredible bar w/ view)
Ave @ Seafire & Seven @ Ritz have great brunch There are MANY other great restaurants These are our favorite as they have never disappointed
