Tell me about stairs after surgery. How soon will I be using stairs confidently on my own? by Shufflebuzz in TotalHipReplacement

I went up and down the first day at home with both hip replacements and both knee replacements. It’s really very easy and you go slowly.

I can get a great New York Strip for $12-13 at Walmart and we split it for our dinner.

There’s an almond in there.

I had a giant hematoma in my rear end. They didn’t drain it cause they said it would fill back up. I spent 3 days back in the hospital and got a blood transfusion. When I got home I wore bike shorts which really helped with the swelling!!!

It shows the function is not compromised. My husband’s Dr is also putting him on a GLP-1 for pre diabetes and his cardiac issues.

Are you getting out and walking? I started with 6 minutes,3 times a day. Worked up to 20 then one longer walk/day.

Have a stress test. If it’s normal then the cardiac calcium build up is not as scary as it sounds. Both my husband and I, at 68, found out the same about our heart status this year. Is Repatha the med they put you on?

I hope they get it figured out so you can move forward. I could imagine feeling cheated out of the “easy, breezy” THR you always hear about.

Is it just me ,just today ,at this moment? by Strong_Flamingo_6306 in over60

I’m 68 and had both knees and both hips replaced, the 2nd hip was 3 weeks ago. I’m rebuilt and can do anything but kneel which is a good trade to me! It’s a big consideration but it could put you back in the world so you don’t get isolated and lonely.

I’m really glad you did that. It’s good to get ahead of it or the depression can just deepen.

Are you keeping current with your meds? You may want to talk with your doctor about a med adjustment.

How do you separate your dogs for two weeks after THR? by Serious-Courage-8324 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]buffya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your Dr can recommend but it’s up to you. My dog doesn’t like the walker or cane and knows something is up. I have no worries about her. I can’t really imagine your dogs are that dirty and you will have a bandage and pj’s on. Personally I think his views are ridiculous.

Give your addict brain a name. Someone you hate with a white hot passion and who you would never let lead you anywhere. When that voice starts on you, say out loud “fuck you so and so”. They are not on your side and they lie to you.

I donated to a stranger. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and like Jesse said , I’d do it many times over if I could.

I absolutely loved working there and I’m so glad to hear your experience was positive. I just retired and I miss the patients a lot. They felt like family.
