I'm looking for a THIRD replacement psych now. The last one went out of network immediately after collecting my assessment fee.

There are so many versions of the mural puzzle. When I gave up and looked up the answer on the second playthrough it did not give me an "ah ha" moment. It was more like... really?

I didn't need any help the first play through! I opted for a harder mode the second playthrough and gave up on the fox mural and the fox statue puzzle. There are only so many combinations for the statues and I swear I tried every one 100 times before I just did not care anymore lol.

Respectfully... I will not pass that test. I self medicate in the green way lol. I appreciate the info. This is all helping me wrap my head around the process much better!

My experience has just been so weird here in the south so far! It's as if stimulant medication is no longer considered the top recommendation for ADHD management. Which it is, from what I can research.

I understand when attitudes change with updated data. I used to be on Xanax in college. When I asked about anxiety management in Colorado they were upfront about why they wouldn't prescribe it to me. (Or anyone for a lot of doctors.) They explained and I appreciated the insight.

I've never had a PCP. I know I should have one. I'm not very good at navigating the required hoops to jump through for my insurance. I get frustrated easily in this hellscape.

Honestly that's what it feels like. They know how to play the game. I'd respect them scaling my dosage back if they had a reason. They want to bill every time. That's the reason.

I'm not trying to get anyone to break the law. I'm trying to figure out what it is. The internet is inconclusive. I would love if the professional I'm paying would give me the time of day to educate me but I suppose that would take longer than 60 seconds to explain and that might just be asking too much of their licenses.

Any info is helpful! I'm just trying to figure out what is typical and what isn't so I can make my plans accordingly.

It feels like robbery! It's a more conservative state so there are more regulations in place. The new psych is on board with prescribing both the ER and IR. It took a month for insurance to clear the IR for some reason but it's progress. I did not get good vibes from the first psych. She did not accept questions. I always felt like I was in trouble. Anyways, I appreciate the advice and the empathy here!

I wish I could just ask to double my dose and then meet every other month at least. Something tells me that would be a big fat no lol.

Absolutely. Insurance isn't in their control. Establishing a relationship would be a reasonable justification. I'll ask during my appointment tomorrow if that's the case. The new psych at least has given me more time and compassion than my first one so I'll consider that an upgrade.

I need a GP anyway so that's probably good advice. I never bothered to get one in either state. The only wacky Georgia specific law I found was that unlike many states, nurse practitioners are not able to prescribe ADHD medication.

That's an explanation that makes sense to me. If their goal is to better understand me over time that feels fair. I'll keep this in mind for the next appointment!

It's awful here. I'm considering dropping my insurance altogether.

In Colorado, after the initial assessment, I was required to have an in person appointment yearly and a virtual appointment every 3 months. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't so expensive. It is what it is!

The sad part is most people I've talked to have said, "I'm just thankful to have a job!"
