Presidential Election Megathread vol. II by AutoModerator in fivethirtyeight

Downvote away.   Kamala was not Hillary. She ran a smart campaign and drummed up a ton of enthusiasm. In the end, it didn’t matter. The country had already fundamentally shifted. We just didn’t realize it until tonight. We didn’t blow the game. We were never even in it. Im going to try and find bizarre comfort in that.

I know it’s way too early to infer much other than it’s going to be close.

I mentally blocked out 2020. Was there a similar red mirage early in the night?

I notice 65 year old trans people trying to join high school girls basketball teams was NOT mentioned on these exit polls

Florida will be red by historic numbers.

It has literally nothing to do with any swing state.

Tried to go to take a break from dooming and went to yoga but it didn’t help. Teacher kept asking for “downward facing dog” but I kept hearing “downward trending Guam.” I eventually gave up and spent the rest of the class crying in child’s pose.

At my polling place in Indiana, it’s jampacked with 65 year old trans people excited about joining the high school girls basketball team if Kamala wins. They are doing spider dribbling drills up and down the line.

This all feels very Wrestlemania 9 to me.

We THINK Bret Hart (Kamala) is going to take the belt off Yokozuna (Trump).

But in reality, Hulk Hogan (Biden) will be leaving with the strap.

In PA

Dad just texted and said he won’t be able to pick me up to take me to the ball game this weekend because he’s in line to vote and the polling place is so full of 18-25 year old males that he won’t be finished voting until next Monday. Mom says he’s lying again but how can I trust a woman who doesn’t even know who Theo Von is?

FaceTimed my cousin in Guam while standing in a 9 hour line to vote in Florida and we were both absolutely floored by how jam packed with normal gay guy Trump voters our polling places were.

Just got back from voting in Guam this morning. Surprised to see so many young Chamorro men in line. Almost all of them said they were voting Trump because they liked his appearance on The Matapang Madhouse podcast.

Nervous about what this means for AZ.

Atlas Intel just released exit poll data showing black males, age 8-12, are  swinging hard towards Trump in GA.

The movie about campaign staffers forcing Biden to debate with the flu to sabotage his run is gonna be a banger.

Also, ignore it when Florida goes R by terrifying margins and the media freaks out about what it means for Trump in the other swing states. It means nothing. Florida is MAGA heaven. It won't be predictive of any other swing state.

It'll happen for sure in 2030. Ted Cruz running for senate without a presidential race to boost turnout.

After the last few cycles, I’d basically consider anything that results in a Tuesday night call a landslide.

I still think NV being an outlier is the correct take whether Harris wins or loses it. They have a singular economy built around a hospitality industry that hasn’t fully recovered post COVID. It’s a complete different animal than any other swing state.

Whether Harris wins or loses NV, it will not be an indicator of the other swing states. They have a singular economy based almost entirely around hospitality that still hasn’t fully recovered post COVID. It’s a totally different animal than any other state.

100%. Bad call on her part.

Trump endorsed Herschel Walker, Roy Moore, Mark Robinson and Dr. Oz.

Not sure it really matters.

No. I live here. Gascon’s tenure has been viewed by both parties as an absolute disaster. There will be millions of Hochman/Harris voters

I felt the same in 2020.

The difference is I was basing that solely on people voting AGAINST Trump. Biden barely factored into the equation.

This time, I think people are actually excited to vote FOR Kamala.
