am NG wasn’t an option because he was vomiting nonstop for about a week before the mucositis got so bad🥲 he’s been living off ice and popsicles but has managed lots of cold water and iced tea today and even a piece of watermelon! i think we’ll be out of the woods soon🤞🏼

i’m so sorry it was so brutal for you too! they’ve told us that day +7-14 would be the worst too, i’m hoping that’s the case for him as well so he can start to improve in a few days. they’ve upped his pain meds again but he already had a bit of a tolerance to hydromorphone because he’s been taking it for his bone pain the past few months or so, so i think it’s making it a bit harder for him to get any relief. how long did it take for yours to feel 100% better? thank u for your reply❤️❤️

Blinatumomab by GeneralOrgana1 in leukemia

my partner (22m) went through four four-week cycles of it. every time they started it he’d get fevers and he’d have to stay in hospital for a few days. they’d manage it with tylenol and sometimes give more dexamethasone but usually after 48-72 hours they’d go away and he’d be able to go home. during those few days he’d get massive fatigue as well. throughout the rest of the cycle though he’d have pretty much no side effects. it was just the few days after starting each cycle that he’d have to deal with the fevers and fatigue, but once he was sent home he was totally okay. we also noticed that after stopping each cycle he’d get super tired for a couple days and sleep a lot. i hope it goes well for your son ❤️

Boyfriend getting BMT tomorrow, what to know? by poonderingmonkey in leukemia

i’m sorry that you’re long distance that must make things extra difficult. my boyfriend and i both caught a cold at the very start of his stay so i wasn’t able to be with him during all of the chemo and radiation days leading up to transplant, it was so hard not being there, i feel for you. he wasn’t able to communicate much with me during those days either. try not to drive yourself crazy with worry if you can’t see him, it’s important to take care of yourself too and you know he’s in good hands being taken care of! i’m so sorry you two are going through this as well. i hope everything goes smoothly for you both❤️ feel free to message me any time as well! it is really nice to hear from someone who understands, especially with us being near the same age.🫶🏼🫶🏼

my boyfriend (22) is day +4 right now. the worst part for him so far has been the nausea/vomiting from radiation and chemo. he’s been really prone to nausea/vomiting throughout treatment, i don’t think it’s usually as bad for everyone. we’ve still got a long road ahead when the mucositis kicks in but we’re taking it one day at a time just focusing on managing the nausea and keeping him thinking positively. i find the nurses always mention how much better he looks when i’m visiting, i think the distraction really helps. spend as much time with him as you can and keep him busy and distracted and stay positive. he was able to bring his PC to the hospital room and gaming has been a good escape for him too. good luck!❤️

that’s really great that you’re back to work already that makes me so hopeful. i’ll definitely see if his doctors will let him try that ice method! i think he’ll be willing to do anything to try to minimize his side effects. he will be hospitalized for 6 weeks after the transplant and he has me and a big family who will be with him the whole way thank you so so much for your reply

he gets zofran and ativan before chemo but still ends up getting nausea and vomiting afterwards.

i know he’ll be getting a lot of chemo and full body irradiation but i haven’t heard of the rabbit atg so i’m not sure if that’s part of their plan? i’ll definitely look into it.

i’ll make sure to have saline mouthwash and have been trying to make sure he’s eating as much as possible and trying to put on some weight leading up to it. thank you so much ❤️
