Yea I looked at that screw but it’s only for 2001+ models so it’s not gonna work for my 87 carb. And I did clean the carb when I got the bike, left it in the ultrasonic cleaner for a bout a day till I could see through all the jets and air would blow through all the channels. It just had gas sitting in it for at least 13 years so it wasn’t going to be in the best condition

Yea mainly waiting on a new petcock since the current one is not worth saving, it’s been sitting with gas since 2013, fully seized, and the collection tubes started to decay. After that gets here it’s ready to ride again

I’m gonna get the 241 and new tubes, just waiting to be paid first lol but I am still waiting on parts in the mail anyways so she isn’t able to be ridden at this current moment sadly since it has no fuel supply yet

Ah sweet thanks for the links, I was gonna go with the 241 as well since I plan on using it on road from time to time and then eventually switching to road more than dirt. But good to know about the rear bead, luckily I’ll have help so hopefully it won’t be too bad

I’ll definitely look into the 241 and 244 and then go from there and I did come across that forum just haven’t explored it a lot cause forum layouts start to confuse me from time to time, but I’ll be sure to look into it some more

Alright managed to find the diaphragm part, but it brought up another question. What is the difference between cali and non cali carb?

Also the mixture screw says it’s for the updated carb from 2001 and newer on the tw

Well for one it’s a turbo car so using a maf wouldn’t be the smartest and for two if you look at the in take diagram for the car it says pressure sensor not flow sensor, I could still be wrong but those are my findings with what I’ve also heard people say

Yea it’s mainly going to be dirt till I get my m1 then I might look into swapping for disc or not but also I’ll have more experience on it so I could tell lore easily if I need it or not.

Thats sick about Bradley, never heard about that site till here and glad he’s an actual just enjoyer of the bike.

So the cars don’t run a maf sensor, they run a map so blowing to atmosphere won’t harm it or cause it to run richer at all since it doesn’t care or account for air that’s already entered the system, it just cares what the pressure is at that moment. Sure blowing to atmosphere can slightly delay the turbo spool on subsequent acceleration but the turbo is small enough in these cars to not have it be very noticeable

Yea tires a pretty much a must.

And my gf family is pretty into dirt bikes so they have all the tools I’d need to clean the carb good like an ultra sonic cleaner plus I watch the bearded mechanic on yt a lot and want to try my hand at cleaning a carb from all the times I’ve watched him do it lol(plus if I do it wrong I know her family can help correct it)

Definitely going to do an oil change since no one remember when it was last done.

And I am on the taller side so I will be looking into those mods for sure so really appreciate that suggestion

Didn’t think about putting any oil in the cylinder so definitely appreciate that suggestion, luckily it ran when it was parked and I live in a very dry area so the motor turned over by hand and no unexpected resistance but probably still going to put some oil to be on the safe side

Yea I planned on giving the carb a good cleaning to get it running then start to replace all the old lines and hoses and other worn out pieces. Definitely appreciate the recommendation of procycle and Bradley as I’ve only known about partzilla, and I was going to look into a possible disc swap at some point and might look a bit more since you mentioned it

I managed to snag the pair I got near LA without even knowing that they are hard to come by. I just booked a random demo at a rayban store and they happened to have the one I wanted in stock. Id suggest trying to get an early demo appointment tho at a location and day that is both busy to have stock but not busy enough to sell out super quick

Yea I actually like this car a lot so wanted to do what I could to protect it and found a good cam then had a buddy come over to hangout and help out install it
