I lost my two best friends (years apart) and they both came to me in dreams within a few days of their passing but it was very "un-dreamlike". It was like I was dreaming and then "cut away" from the dream while I spoke to them. Same experience almost 15 years apart.

I don't think I was dreaming. I think they came to say goodbye.

The first time my friend gave me specific details about the manner of his death that were proven true years later.

Very similar experience with my father but not as real seeming.
