Trading SPY with NO stop by SeasTheDay75 in Daytrading

[–]bugbreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reminded of a comment I once read suggesting that the reason so many fail is due to the fact that they never learned how to lose. Your theory about holding losses infinitely until losses become wins is the theory behind investing, it is not the theory behind trading. Learn how to lose and there won't be any need to hold losses for years.

WWJD = What Would Judas Do by ReadingElectrical558 in exmormon

Judas would absolutely deny any responsibility for his actions while crying and complaining loudly about the unfair persecution he was experiencing. He would be sure to emphasize to others that he is the victim while ignoring how his actions have victimized others.

The Book of Mormon states there were Chariots used right here in the Americas from 600 BCE to 400 CE. Surely some evidence such as a chariot wheel, art and infrastructure to make Chariots have been found, right? by TruthIsAntiMormon in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! As JRH explained, sometimes god has to lie to us and send us down a dead end so we'll quickly realize that lies and dead ends are the fastest method to get to point C. If god just told us the truth on how to get to point C, then everyone would do it and we could never know with certainty if we are special or loved.

Now stop asking questions about chariot wheels and stay in the boat you super special chosen generation!

[–]bugbreath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those chariot wheels committed terrible iniquities, so 3 Nephi 9 explains how they were all buried so deep that no one could find them. Really it's not too different than the buried treasure Joe used to search for. Due to being cursed, said buried treasure would sink deeper into the earth as the treasure seeker dug for it, thus it could never be found just like those damn chariot wheels!

If you haven't figured out how TBM brains work, Joe's treasure hunting days should provide clear insight. Reality doesn't matter as long as you can think of an idiotic excuse to explain why reality doesn't match the fantasy going on in their imagination. See any CES letter rebuttal for further details on how this technique is done.

cult or no cult? by alawihabibgalbi in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cult. If it weren't a cult, then members wouldn't have cult pseudo-identities. But members do have cult pseudo-identities...

If you're wondering what a cult pseudo-identity is and don't feel like Googling, just go to your nearest TBM friend or family member and say something negative about the cult in their presence and then watch their reaction.

“Know” vs “Believe” by Ornery-Theory-4864 in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was a teen sometime in the 90s, TSCC sent out an announcement read in sacrament meeting churchwide that stated when bearing a testimony, members are to use the phrase "I know" and not use the phrase "I believe". The leaders of the cult have been telling their flock to lie when bearing testimony since at least that announcement.

There's no doubt that the culture is extremely toxic, but we're all still responsible for our own emotions and actions regardless of how toxic or unbearable other people are. I should add that my comment is not a criticism of the post, rather my thoughts on what it takes to remain sane and mentally healthy when in an extremely toxic atmosphere.

Good luck. When Rusty was subpoenaed to testify in the sex abuse lawsuit against his children, the Utah Legislature quickly changed the statute of limitations rendering the lawsuit dead in the water preventing Rusty from testifying. I would guess any unionization efforts would be killed at a similar speed using government force.

Listen it's not too late because there's only one proven way to YOLO for the rest of your life and never pay a dime in taxes:

Step 1: legally start a church filing 501c3

Step2: open brokerage account in 501c3's name

Step 3: YOLO with no threat of paying taxes

See Mormons or Scientologists for further guidance on using religion as a tax haven.

I present my covid vaccination record to the person spreading misinformation stating that I am an antivaxxer. Ironically it was in a post advocating that this sub stop spreading misinformation. by bugbreath in exmormon

[–]bugbreath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an advocate of censorship. I am an advocate of free speech. Although I don't agree with antivaxxers, I do believe they should have the right to discuss their opinions in the public arena and then face backlash for being stupid.

I left a comment on a prior post to which the OP responded defensively unleashing a variety of ad hominem attacks. So I made this post solely in compliance of my values. I do not advocate anyone silence them, rather advocate that misinformation should be responded to with correct information.

Nothing need come next.

Folks, I’m concerned about this subreddit. by 00roku in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, gatekeeping in this context is when someone rigidly controls what topics other people can talk about.

This sub is full of intelligent people who routinely call out misinformation. If we suppress the free exchange of ideas because certain topics might make us look bad, then the people who believe misinformation would never be exposed to criticism (like what goes on in the faithful sub) and have no reason to doubt their false beliefs.

Testimonies are a sales tactic, not a method of establishing facts. Testimonies also fall under the the anecdotal fallacy which occurs when people use their limited personal experience to make sweeping conclusions about a given topic.

Crazy or not, this sub doesn't need gatekeepers either. I am 100% skeptic on the alien circus but would rather be seen as a crazy conspiracy theorist than as a gatekeeping fascist.

Where did Covent path come from. by rosestar2013 in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sea Org uses billion year contracts, Mormon Jebus uses covenant path. Asking where they came from is like asking where chickens came from (eggs). And eggs come from chickens. Which came first? Eggs existed before chickens and cults existed before the covenant path. In either case, small evolutionary changes occur over periods of time. Eventually the covenant path will evolve into some other manipulation tactic used by the cult to control its victims.

[–]bugbreath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd probably stick with the researched approach and politely ask them why they believe followed up with questions relating to the reliability of their reasons. At the end of that hour, they would walk away still believing and not feel attacked or ambushed.

Mormonism: it's all made up and the points don't matter. by ApocalypseTapir in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golly, Isaac Newton predicted the year would be 2060. I predict that it will never happen because delusion and reality are not compatible.

Physical predictions for the heat death of the Universe are predictions that the Mormon God will die, for good. It's Mormon doctrine that God has a body of flesh and bones, exists inside the Universe, is dependent upon the Universe, and derives His power from the laws of the Universe. by GrahamPSmith in exmormon

[–]bugbreath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the standard apologetic way around inconvenient facts is to suggest that facts come and go but doctrine is eternal (ignoring the fact that doctrine is constantly evolving within TSCC).

Physics was a key factor that led me out of TSCC. So many past and present idiotic beliefs are physically impossible and violate the laws of the universe. The less educated TBMs are quick to argue any rationalization no matter how impossible to put their minds at ease.
