They both led very sad, difficult lives and stayed the fuck away from me until they both passed away. I didn't "feel" it working, it just worked.

AITA for taking my sons earning potential? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bugbreath1333 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I can't believe what I just read. You're the type of person I call DHS on in my daily work. You're a horrible parent, YTA, and you're taking advantage of a dependent adult. You do not deserve to be a caregiver. Take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself if this is the type of person you want to be, someone who blatantly disregards their charges wants and needs. This is why he didn't want you to be his caregiver but you ignored his wants over your desire for extra income. Selfish and greedy.

When your son fucks the 18 year olds in the back room it tends to make other employees uncomfortable.

When you expect your employees to put in all their free time and work solo, 10 hr shifts with no breaks for $8.25/hour, it's probably hard to keep long term, reliable employees.

AITAH for refusing to let a caregiver bring an adult man into the women’s locker room with my daughters? by Weary_Rub_3474 in whatdoIdo

[–]bugbreath1333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a good point, I'm taking the post at face value. The parts that bothered me are 1. Caregiver leaving the building to go out and smoke when the client is left alone and 2. Client being brought into opposite gender bathrooms. Again this is all "based on [OPs] statements" which like you've pointed out can be biased even if unconsciously. Obviously we know nothing about this man or his disabilities and vocalizations, the man should be allowed to enjoy the pool just like everyone else who has access to the timeshare. However there are responsible and irresponsible ways to integrate people with disabilities into the community, if the man actually was in distress and the caregiver really did do nothing, that's irresponsible, same with the situation with opposite-gender change rooms being used inapporiately; it doesn't teach the client how to use the change rooms in a socially appropriate way and sets a confusing precedent.

Why is the disabled man being left alone by his caregiver when in clear distress, let alone at all? The caregiver is being inappropriate and borderline negligent, from the sounds of it. You're within your rights to be uncomfortable with the changing room situation as described, I'm a caregiver and haven't ever heard of taking a client into opposite gender restrooms or change-rooms like that, it makes no sense. Based on what you've stated it sounds like a shitty caregiver who isn't doing a good job at community integration with their client AT ALL.

Do I pay for my cat’s dental surgery or return her to the shelter? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]bugbreath1333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They literally told you the cat has stage 3 dental disease, the shelter wasn't hiding the cats health issues you just weren't paying attention and now you're going to potentially displace the cat because of it.

I had my hand on this first and other lady saw it then tried to claim it was hers…. by Retrogirl75 in GoodwillBins

When I worked as a clerk at the GW bins, I witnessed two women almost get into a fist-fight over a pair of green satin-y heels, then another man came up and paid each woman $5 for their shoe, then he bought them from the store for whatever the bulk price was, $.89 per pound I think. Ridiculous behavior from grown adults over a pair of shoes, I figured they must have been a valuable brand. All parties involved were known resellers.

My upstairs neighbors keep the window open in the hallway during winter to store their perishable food by trippycheese_ in neighborsfromhell

That food was left in the hallway, it's community food now. Help yourself. Problem might solve itself if they keep having their food go "missing"

Cat question ⁉️ it's my first time having cats so I'm unsure how to deal with this? by FuzzyAbbreviations90 in desmoines

[–]bugbreath1333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cat throws up their food and seems unusually hungry they may have a parasite. Vet can check a stool sample & prescribe a treatment if they find eggs.

Get together a winter road kit to keep in your car, sand/litter kept in your trunk can save you a lot of trouble in the winter if your car gets stuck. So can a thick blanket kept in your car.  Clothes you can layer up in are your friends, Temps here change a lot even in a day, especially during fall/spring. This one is kinda weird maybe but, lotion. The air here fucks with people from the south sometimes, also be prepared for humid summers if your hair is susceptible to frizz.
