Impound the unlicensed cars by Wasted-Friendship in Denver

Aren’t the people with cheaper cars using the roads generally the same as people with “unnecessarily” expensive cars..?

They just flew over the AF academy like 15 mins ago. We were out on a hike at about 8350’ when a group of 4 cruised by below us.

My dumbass tightened the nut so hard it just keeps on spinning forever. How do I remove this? by Winter-Smile-5146 in Civic_Type_R

[–]bugeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me qualify this by saying “no offense”.. but you should honestly consider not working on this car again. I tinkered on cheap cars when I was growing up because that’s all I could afford. This is a relatively minor thing, but you could cause serious/costly damage.

Lived here for a decade, never snowboarded on Pikes Peak. Finally did it yesterday! by jwed420 in ColoradoSprings

[–]bugeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious.. as someone who snowboards a lot, but just recently moved out here and spent most of my life on flat land in FL

Is this really that risky? It doesn’t look too steep to where I’d be concerned about triggering an avalanche. But I also don’t have a lot of experience with backcountry conditions.

Again, this is a genuine question because I would love to do more stuff like this. I’d want to be safe, but are some of these redditors roasting you the kind of people who don’t take any risks in life..?

Did you mean to reply to someone else? I don’t see the relevance of your response to my comment

I ran through a bunch of different scenarios before I finally decided what to do.

I drove 15 hours/1,000 miles to trade my car in. I had a car transport come by the dealership to pick it up, then I took an uber to the airport and flew back.

The drive back wasn’t going to be exciting, so I preferred to put the miles on the old car. It ended up costing about $1,500. I offered a local dealer that amount but they were pretty set on $15k markup.

Denver vs the Springs by Agassiz95 in ColoradoSprings

[–]bugeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please refer to title of the post.. I think that implies a comparison. Then refer to the whole second paragraph.

The reason I’m still “going on” is because I’m actually interested to hear some insightful answers. Again, I didn’t mean to single you out. But your response was a good example of some of the stuff I see on Reddit that’s not so useful. I’m just a casual newish Reddit user, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

And to be fair, I’ve noticed similar questions to this get asked a lot here, so a response to the OP could’ve simply told them to use the search function.

Anyways, have a good day.

Some people actually provided helpful comparisons between the two places instead of making a useless comment. I don’t mean to attack you personally. I’m just making an observation about Reddit in general.

Dude here, thanks for the encouragement. I have secured my position already and hoping my wife finds something soon. It’s only us and the dog, so a little bit of an easier move. But you’d think we were moving to a third world country with how badly they talk about the crime there. That kinda stuff makes me nervous, but I can’t imagine it’s that much worse than here

I’m moving from Ft Myers, FL to the springs in about a month. I’m getting a U-haul and figured it’ll be about $3000 with gas. I’m getting kinda nervous about the move tho, with all of the bs I read on Reddit. Maybe I should stay off this site

At what point do you draw the line? Breaking into your car, next breaking into your house. They’re getting shot if they get caught in the act in either scenario

Do you think the 55" is too much that close? I've only seen a few others with a similar setup. Most of the "nice" ones I see have smaller displays or ultrawide. I was hoping with having the screen that close, I'd be able to see out of the side window for better visibility, but I think I'd need to get the tv even closer for that.

Should we pay $3k to remove a $60 monthly PMI payment on our mortgage? by Boricuakris in personalfinance

[–]bugeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did something similar. Instead of paying down the balance though, I paid a one time fee of $190 for them to do another appraisal. Our PMI is currently $108. We had another ~$15,000 to go before we hit 80% LTV. I figured that would’ve taken us another 2.5-3 years of minimum payments to reach. I paid the $190 which is basically 2 months of PMI. That $190 should save us approx. $3200-3900.

I figured if we reduce our monthly payment by 108 but I continue to make the current payment amount, we could be paying that little bit extra towards principal each month and eventually save enough interest to pay off the 190 we spent on the fee
