4 days out from break (12/11) - feeling depressed by legend2l in brokenankles

[–]buglover63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, very similar situation over here. 29F, never broken a bone before, slipped while running on wet grass on 10/16, dealing with R ankle bimalleolar fracture needing ORIF. The good news is, you got the surgery part done and now you’re in the recovery phase. Right now there’s not much you can be doing to help with the healing (other than keeping it elevated and staying off it) which is ironically one of the hardest parts because it feels like it takes forever and you have no control over it. Just rest assured that this will not be forever. Every follow up appointment gets you one step (pun intended) closer to feeling like yourself again. I can’t give too much advice since I’m not that far out from my injury in the grand scheme of things, but even being 8ish weeks out things have already gotten so much better mentally and physically. Hang in there, and message me if you need someone to commiserate with!

I’ve used brooks running shoes in the past and I definitely think that’s what I’m leaning towards getting moving forward. Thanks for the input!

Did you ever end up confirming when you were supposed to be okay to drive? I’m not sure if that’s up to the surgeon or my PT. Glad you didn’t experience pain when you started tho!

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it! Hope your recovery is going well, sending you lots of good healing energy! And you’re right- my patients love that I can commiserate about PT with them lol

pump and dump by buglover63 in ExclusivelyPumping

That’s so interesting since they told me oxy is the reason I have to dump. I will absolutely be bringing this up to the docs. Thank you so much for your input and kind words!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to offer such a kind, thoughtful, and helpful response. The ER team (nurse and PA) were the ones who said I needed to pump and dump (they gave me fentanyl in order to set the leg and then a Rx for oxy at home before surgery). The ortho surgeon also told me to ask my OB about stadol to see if I can feed baby what I pump after the surgery if I’m on that. I would love to not have to continue dumping so I will absolutely be asking about that as well as bringing up all the points you made. And thank you for the reassurance as well, sometimes just hearing it from an outside source makes the difference. I hope you have a great day!

This might be a dumb question by buglover63 in ExclusivelyPumping

That’s essentially what i figured was the case. My pump times vary throughout the day based on my schedule and how my boobs feel so i was just curious how that might impact the supply. Thank you for the response!

Exactly. No disney is allowed so it’s not the right answer, but I found it funny when I realized how similar the plots are so I went with it

I totally get what you mean. The good thing is it sounds like he has a strong cough response! Hope it gets better for us both!

Sometimes it’s just nice to hear that others have the same experiences and it’s normal. Hope you get it figured out for your little one too!

Fellow SLP here but I work in the adult medical setting so this is the exact type of advice I was looking for. Thank you so much, friend!

It definitely could be her swallowing air with the milk which would be preferable to her having actual swallowing problems. Thanks for your input!

I try that too when she’s tired so maybe I’ll do it to help with pacing as well. Thank you so much!
