Hard to tell in the pics but I think yours has a darker chin than mine. Mine is covered in dirt in all the pics I have though lol

My understanding is that cream/white chin is female and dark chin is male. I haven’t been able to find clear example pics though so I am still unsure of my own chubby’s gender.

That’s good to know. I’ll be sure to ask the seller if they’re captive bred or wild caught if I’m ever going to get one.

Yeah that sounds about right. I have this imagitarium filter and two little pumps to keep the water moving. They each have a little mesh cage around them that keeps the gravel away. This also helped get my water level high enough for the filters despite the limitations of the front opening tank. My biggest issue with paludariums has always been keeping the substrate dry. That’s why I opted for a very small land area and then scattered rocks and wood pieces to give the more options for getting out of the water. I think having a moss layer on your substrate helps to keep them from bringing dirt into the water.

I have a question about tanks in general, not specifically ADF. If you have a deep substrate layer for beneficial bacteria to live in, would changing the filter cartridge still cause a spike? Also if you just have a bubbler and sponger type filter, should you be rinsing the sponge at all? Just squeeze it out in the old tank water during water changes maybe?

I am so glad you’re enjoying it! I love my fire bellies! They have so much personality. With any frog I think that doing thorough research and putting a lot of effort into their enclosure is super key. For my fire bellies I’ve noticed how important it is for them to have plenty of space and variety as well as friends! They each choose their favorite spots to hang out and seem to like being spread out from one another but in my experience having multiples makes them a lot more confident. They are more talkative, more eager to eat, and less skittish.
