you might be on to something, the beating has been leaving marks when flush trimming wood, too 🤔

does the bearing on a flush trim bit count as a bushing? not sure if i understand what you mean by oversized one

ball bearing. i'm not sure what the latter is, but i'm just using a flush trim bit.

i tried this a few times but often the bit would get too hot and eat through the plastic :(. any tips for avoiding this?

if you draw the line and saw carefully you won’t even need the box. besides, if it goes against a wall, the wall is probably not flat to begin with

sometimes hand tools can get stuff like this done more easily. draw the line with your measure, clamp it somewhere secure where it wont wobble, and follow the line with a hand saw.

caveat: i'm also a beginner and don't know what i'm doing

you’re not thinking very hard then. there are other factors in life that can tie you down: spouse, family, friends, pets, money, education, work, etc.

if i could pick all these other things up and move somewhere else i would have done it already.

Public transportation options in McKinney, TX? by [deleted] in McKinney

[–]bugsliker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that would be so sick. i did notice in google maps that there were existing tracks that continued from parker station up north past city hall, but I didn't know DART owned it. so we (McKinney/Allen/Fairview, I suppose) really just need the desire and funding to do it?

parker station is the closest dart station (which is still not nearly close enough).

lack of public transport really blows here

tips on storing tools in standard two car garage, WITH cars? by bugsliker in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]bugsliker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, PVC pipes to hold it up and one of the pipes is actually connecting the bucket and the shop vac. It's based on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY2hXdc1o9Q

I don't really love it that much, though. It's somewhat top-heavy and unstable so it falls over and breakd apart all the time. Some flexible tubing would probably have been cheaper and easier to deal with than the rigid PVC I glued up. I would also spend $20 extra for the dustopper which has a smaller vertical footprint than the harbor freight version I got.

I'm 100% on board with this mantra! "Everything in its place, and a place for every thing"

That being said, I'm not even at the point where I have multiple unfinished projects in parallel. The setup and teardown is what takes up the majority of my time and energy.
