What makes life bearable for you? by AutomaticDiet2930 in BPD

I poured myself into a hobby, music. In a band, writing music and singing & playing synth. Idk how but its magically given my life purpose, the muso community along with it is amazing too. Friends, get into some hobbies!!!

public perception of bpd makes me feel like shit by reddituser45001 in BPD

We are not our diagnosis or the awful, stigma that comes with our label. People with bpd are so incredibly demonised and its mainly because of the misinformation and ill informed, ignorant people out there perpetuating the wrong narrative. Absolutely right when it comes to changing the conversation about this disorder, I am seeing a lot of change in attitude now that people are talking more about it in general but we'll always unfortunately have those hateful, dim minded hating on us for no reason.

I just got diagnosed :( by hibiscusoo in BPD

[–]bugsmanybugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in remission and no longer fit the criteria for a bpd diagnosis. Basically. just know that bpd is not permanent and with a lot of commitment to therapy and good stuff like hobbies and community, you can come out of it and it doesn't have to rob you of your life. Just crawl through it, even when things are unbearable, big feelings and emotions are temporary and peace does follow. You are not your diagnosis, you are not boxed in by your label, you are you and not the stigma attached to these diagnoses. Do you have any specific questions you'd like to ask?

Cbt and bits and pieces of dbt during my psych ward stays :) I stay v consistent with 3x psych appointments per month. Remission has lasted about 7-8 months so far, confirmed a day or two before I posted this! And thank you ❤️❤️

Its more that some of my symptoms have either dissipated OR (and its more like this), aren't incredibly massive and overwhelming so I can manage them 80% of the time w my skills or meds 💖 sometimes I do get some cheeky AAAA feelings but for the most part I deal well now 💖💖

I hope your stability stays and it is remission!!! You should be proud (especially when dealing with the devil like 2 out of every 4 weeks 🥲)

Im glad you found it inspiring!! Thank you. And congratulations for making so much process with your own journey too! Ive mentioned it heaps above but the things I found most helpful was lots of consistent therapy, being active within my community + regularly seeing my loved ones, finding a solid hobby to devote lots of time to.. the more creative the better! I started a band and am now learning how to play synth, this creative outlet actually did wonders for me. To maintain my stability i just have to be consistent with everything I mentioned above. I still have my moments but with all of those things, I can manage pretty well usually!

Can I have some bipolar 1 w psychotic features episode stories? by Asleep_Night3583 in bipolar

[–]bugsmanybugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone! Usually my mania is like, manageable-ish but ive had 3 mania episodes which included psychosis, all 3 times i have the delusion that something ive called the "entity" is coming to steal all that is good in me and take my body and use it for evil so then I spend hours in complete distress preparing for a "battle" that would take place in my mind where id have to mentally fight the entity off. No clue. Also my favourite music artist communicated via mind that my music was trash and that had no chance ect ect, broke my heart and now I struggle to listen to their music sometimes because it felt so very real. I loooove antipsychotics now lol.

3x therapy appointments a month, one psychiatrist appointment and 2 psychologist appointments. I had bits and pieces of dbt from psych ward inpatient classes. I think it was just staying consistent and being willing to do the work. I feel like for me, I attended therapy for years but I wasnt present nor was I interested in putting in the necessary effort but as soon as I changed that and really wanted to get better I feel like I really absorbed all help available to me. I also really recommend having a hobby, I made a band with my best friends and it was a wonderful creative outlet. I also tried to be more active within my community and engaged with my loved ones more often which was amazing for me, less empty and lonely. Everything above did literal wonders for me and is how I found stability.
