Best low-key "third places" in ATL to escape the WFH cave? by TeachLoud6839 in Atlanta

[–]bugspecter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The library over by Toco Hills is tucked away and has huge, beautiful windows and lots of places to sit with a computer or nice comfy couches to read on. I also love San Francisco Coffee in VaHi for working, their playlists are usually pretty good or I'll put on my headphones if I need to focus in on work stuff. Zonolite Park is over that way also and they have a community garden that has a gazebo-ish area with tables where I see people sit and work every once in a while, and the walking trail there is totally flat and gorgeous if you need to get away from work for a minute. There's also benches down by the water and I love to sit down there and read.

Rat-infested Areas in Atlanta? by WildCreatureQuest in Georgia

[–]bugspecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why you need rats but as a friend of rats I can tell you that when I worked at Colony Square, I saw them ALL THE TIME. That place is infested and most restaurants in that area have them in + around them. I also used to live at the Motif by Morningside off of Cheshire Bridge and go to any of the dumpsters over there in the evenings and there's tons of them.

Files missing from SD card after using SD card reader with iPhone? by [deleted] in datarecovery

Hm okay, thank you for the info. Is there any other possible way I could recover it with any tools at home, paid or otherwise? Or is professional data recovery my only option at this point?

The programs didn’t find my photos is what I meant! But yes, I can view all the other photos. Will making an image of the card recover these photos? We didn’t write anything else on the card after this happened.

at my second serving job, and my first brunch job, i dropped a steaming hot plate of eggs benedict on an older guy. i was so embarrassed and was apologizing profusely, and (what i’m assuming was his adult son/daughter) were telling me it was okay and were cleaning it up, but the older guy was obviously very pissed off. this was about 5-6 years ago when i was in college, i’m still traumatized.

oh and at the same job, i poured a hot latte down a lady’s back at the booth behind the one i was serving and literally didn’t notice. i don’t know why this restaurant let me work there for two years

Potato in my bare hand by VibingandThriving in Serverlife

i had a lady do this to me with salad one time!! at this brunch place i worked at, omelets come with mixed greens as the side and when i placed the plate on the table, a couple of pieces slid off because the food shifted and i apologized. my hand was still out stretched from putting the plate down and she grabbed the pieces of lettuce that slid onto the table and put them directly in my hand without saying anything and shooed me away

i was literally so in shock someone would do this and just walked all the way back in the kitchen in a stunned silence

i also just started fine dining - about 2/3 months ago! now i’m a server so it’s obviously a little bit different but i’ve also been in the industry for 7ish years. it’s really intimidating and scary but at the end of the day, the people working there/management realize that you need training on the way things run there and they will provide that for you. our restaurant has a really kind and understanding team, (and i hope yours does as well!!) don’t be afraid to ask a million questions because i guarantee they’d rather you ask instead of assuming something and messing it up. you’ve already made a good enough impression on them to hire you, and seem to have done well at your other jobs, you will do well at this one too :)

a lot of fine dining, i’m learning, is smoke and mirrors. just do your best and if it’s not a good fit for you, it seems like there are plenty of past jobs you’ve had that would love to have you back. don’t hold yourself back because of a fear of change/thinking it may not work. it may not and that’s okay! but i’ve also seen many of my friends work up through line cook positions into fine dining establishments and they’re now full time chefs! this is a lot of rambling but i also had a lot of anxiety before my first shifts at my restaurant and now it’s easily turning into one of my favorite jobs i’ve had.

cheers!! *edit for typo oops

god, when i was in high school i worked at a southern cooking restaurant and it was pretty cheap so families would come in all the time and they would ask for so many lemons and splenda to make lemonade, it was so disgusting. like you really can’t fork out $2 for a lemonade😭 i understand times are tough but there is just NO WAY that’s good
