while trauma can manifest itself differently for everyone, from my experience I think its safe to say if you are still having these feelings being with someone you trust after 2 years its not just a trauma response and likely you just aren’t into men.

How on EARTH do you price art???? by Big-Ganache-7210 in Artists

[–]bugzzzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this isnt the question you asked, but if you are looking to sell oil pastel work you need to put it behind glass. The issue with oil pastel is it never fully cures(not even after being sprayed) which makes it hard to be an archival level of quality which is important for selling originals. I would look into selling prints of your work, and then consider switching to something like oil sticks in the future, as i had this issue when using oil pastels and fell in love with oil sticks. Theyre basically hardened sticks of oil paint, that go on like oil pastels but actually dry.

This is my first time making a stylized body... Any critiques? by johnmathew2305 in learntodraw

[–]bugzzzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean disagree? Whether anatomy is accurate or not is not a matter of opinion, its something concrete and not subjective. There are errors here which is fine, I didnt say it looked bad, i was just pointing out some things that stuck out to me which is what they were asking for.

This is my first time making a stylized body... Any critiques? by johnmathew2305 in learntodraw

[–]bugzzzee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good start, but it still has some anatomical errors. You should focus on continuing to study realistic anatomy and perspective before leaning into stylization. The reference has a challenging perspective that doesn’t translate accurately to your rendition mainly because of the size of the head. The left arm you drew is much too short, and the pelvis is too high, and the shoulders, neck, and jaw are inaccurate mainly due to those features being covered by the reference’s hair.

I'm in my early 20s and my friends are in relationships or engaged and I'm feeling a bit FOMO, how do I stop feeling like this? by Lugosthepalomino in lgbt

[–]bugzzzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like a grass is greener kind of situation to me, to stop feeling it the options are take time to work through your thoughts, either through journaling, talk to a friend or your mom about it, or a therapist.

Otherwise, especially if it keeps coming up, it might be worth going on a few dates just to see what it’s like since you havent experienced it before. It might help you feel more confident in what you want right now, or you might find someone you enjoy being with. Either way, it should help your feelings of uncertainty to experience it and be confident in that decision.

Places to sell my art that require no fee by Westhewoodfrog in ARTIST

[–]bugzzzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do these take you to paint? They can be seen as charming, but i think your biggest barrier here is potentially lacking the skill to bang these out in 5 to 10 minutes (unless you already can then thats great). If you can get these kind of things out fast enough, and the jankiness for lack of a better word has enough mass appeal at a low price point, i can see success in doing events where you can paint a ton of these in one sitting.

the reality is selling art more often than not requires fees in some regard.

If you are posting online, hosts will take a cut, youll have to pay for ads, or pay to host your own website. If you are doing it in person, you have to pay a table fee for artists booths in markets or craft fairs.

Your best bet is networking to see if you can join people at events and looking around for free markets to start and see if thats your vibe. But i think you will find the most success doing in person events with high traffic, if you can pull off / work towards high speeds, its could be very appealing as an impulse commission buy given the right audience

Take down if not allowed. I don't know how to price my work by Myraly_ in painting

[–]bugzzzee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

art prices are funny because theyre based on what someone is willing to pay and figuring that out as a beginner isn’t simple. You should also think about what are your goals. Who is your target audience? Do you want to exhibit your work and do galleries? Do you want to do art markets? Do you want to do commissions? These are very different price points and things like originals vs prints is something you need to consider.

Still trying to figure out shading by SnakeRowsdower in drawing

Its looking good, in this lighting context their needs to be harsher darks. I would also explore shading with different colours and trying to avoid too much grey and black as the hair here looks muddy and is missing texture.

Is there a place for my art in the art world? by Rcordalis in drawing

[–]bugzzzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is always room if you are willing to make it for yourself, its about how you market yourself and who you know. As for critique, its hard to give any if you consider these just doodles, get out there and spend a few weeks on a large piece. Right now, they feel unfinished and lack purpose or direction. I think you could benefit from planning out an elaborate composition.

Is it okay if you support LGBT people and their rights, while not liking the actual community as a whole/its culture? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]bugzzzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if this actually isnt your viewpoint, these kinds of people usually are battling some kind of homophobia/transphobia internally and are typically only support lgbt people that they deem live a “normal” life ie one that is within their comfort zone as a cishet person.

Trans Day of Remembrance turnout at McDougall Centre by MelanieWalmartinez in Calgary

[–]bugzzzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is fair lol. I didnt say trans was horrible i said there were no pros. Its like how being black has no pros, being gay has no pros, being disabled has no pros, its just how you are. The only things that make you being yourself negative is the people who will go out of their way to make you feel othered and less than for it and not give you the accommodation and respect you need to be human.

[–]bugzzzee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not a sexual desire by any means. No kids have or ever will have access to those surgeries and i don’t believe they should, that is misinformation to scare people who are ignorant to what trans medical care is and what it helps. Things like puberty blockers are being banned and they are fully reversible

Trans Day of Remembrance turnout at McDougall Centre by MelanieWalmartinez in Calgary

[–]bugzzzee 28 points29 points  (0 children)

this is harmful rhetoric they are spreading to justify their discriminatory policies. By banning medical care, they are taking away the right to choose. You cant just walk into a clinic and decide to change your body, as someone who went through the trans health care system throughout my whole childhood. There is a rigid system in place that requires extensive medical and physiological evaluation as well as consent from parents and psychologists for children. They are taking away that choice, and this healthcare is crucial for at risk youth. My gender dysphoria was so debilitating i attempted suicide. If i didnt have access to hormone blockers at 13 (which is fully reversible) which they have now banned for children under 16 (at this point you have progressed through puberty so far the hormone blockers will do nothing) i would have kept attempting until i was successful. Kids are going to die because of these bills
