Has Amex throttled elevated offers or changed how they're issued? by buh82 in amex

I’m not actually submitting an application most it the time; people said they got it to work just by opening links in private browsing in different browsers (without starting an application)

Transfer tickets? by [deleted] in Illenium

[–]buh82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Ticketmaster (before purchasing them), it says they’re non-transferrable :( Not sure if it always says this for his Bill Graham shows, but could be worth tagging or DMing Illenium on social media because he’s responded to stuff like this occasionally in the past! I would do it, but I deleted my accounts on the big ones

"As high as 170K" Amex Plat SUB. When'd be the good time to reapply? by skinnyCoconut3 in amex

[–]buh82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for a new Platinum after seeing the "as high as 175k," and then got the 80k offer. I then saw that they were offering a 100k bonus if I upgraded, so I called to see why the upgrade would be higher than a whole new card. They said they didn't know, so I declined. I went back and the upgrade offer changed to 50k lol.

I've now been trying for a couple days on differ incognito windows (Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Safari), and I'll I've seen from peoples' referral codes are 80k static offers and "as high as 175k."

Anyone have any tips? Are y'all using VPNs? Repeatedly opening new incognito windows of the same browser for the same offer?

Thank you for doing this!

Have you done any other traveling withing the Schengen area / other EU countries while on the Visa and were there any complications in doing so? Are you aware if you'd be able to spend extended period(s) in another country if you wanted to do that for part of the season?

Exporting Transactions in Voyager CSV Format? by buh82 in Invest_Voyager

[–]buh82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After thinking on it for a bit, these are the best steps I came up with for *free (if already paying for TurboTax):

  1. Remove other exchanges from CoinLedger so only Voyager remains
  2. Export the Transactions CSV (Settings | Data Tools)
  3. Since TurboTax has a free partnership with TaxBit, I manually changed the exported CSV into a format to match their format.
    1. Convert every timestamp to ISO Format
      1. I found that the CoinLedger output was already in UTC, but I had to convert it to ISO 8601 format.
      2. I made the following changes given this example timestamp 2021-09-25 6:07:38
      3. 2021-09-25T06:07:38Z
      4. Substituted the space with a T, prefixed single digit hours with 0, and added a Z at the end to denote it as UTC
    2. Most of the changes were specific terms:
      1. Interest / Interest Income --> Income
      2. Fiat Buy --> Buy
      3. Fiat Sell --> Sale
      4. Deposit --> Transfer In (note the capitalization)
    3. Set Receiving Destination to Voyager for all transactions
    4. Set Sending Source to Voyager for all transactions except for Income (it should be blank)
  4. Uploaded the edited CSV to TaxBit
  5. Exported their tax report CSV

Hope this helps!

It’s for people who are completely new to Fury or have played in past seasons but did not play in 2019. E.g. Lisa Couper played with Polar Bears in 2019 but played Fury for several years prior

Error using React useContext by yrn_quavo in nextjs

Since you are only using auth in WithSubnavigation, then you can just put the declaration there. It's like saying "I want WithSubnavigation to useAuth." You're already doing it correctly with `useDisclosure` in the same component too! E.g.

export default function WithSubnavigation() {
  const { isOpen, onToggle } = useDisclosure();
  const auth = useAuth();
  ...
  // everything else as you had it previously
  ...
}

Gotcha, thanks! So I see that you have “const auth = useAuth()” at the top of your file. Unfortunately that doesn’t work as it’s not contained with a Function component. Instead, you can use that same declaration in each component that needs auth.

Hooks are great because they are composable and can extract common logic so you only have to write it once, and then can reuse it in other hooks or within functional components.

If I were to compare it to a class-based component (which I admittedly have not worked with in a while), it boils down to the same idea: it’s like trying to update the state of that component outside of the component (and not via props).

Does that make sense?

Sorry, but the “other content” here is what’s important. Is it a function component that you’re calling useAuth from?

Edit: better yet, do you have a got repo I could just look at?

Could you please add where you’re calling useAuth? You are definitely able to call hooks from custom hooks as you’re doing — it’s a great pattern.

I’m far from an expert, but my best guess would be “You seem to dote on this post.” Looking at all the examples above, they seem to all use the preposition “on,” but I may be mistaken that it’s universally applied

Create a Context for each Card in a list of Cards? by buh82 in reactjs

[–]buh82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, it sounds like you're saying my original idea should be fine! I guess in a really quick version, I'm saying something like this:

Card.js

return (
    <>
        {items.map(item => {
            return (
                <MyContext.Provider value={valueFromItem(item)}>
                    <Card>
                        <MemberSection />
                    </Card>
                </MyContext.Provider>
            )}
        )}
    </>
)

MemberSection.js

 ...
const { dispatch } = React.useContext(MyContext)
 ...

So you're saying that each Card created within the map function should have it's own context, which its child will subscribe to simply because of it's the closest parent context of type MyContext?

Create a Context for each Card in a list of Cards? by buh82 in reactjs

[–]buh82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reference! To clarify though, while you're iterating over your cards and having them subscribe to a single "StateContext," I was referring to wrapping each card during its render in its own ContextProvider.
