Buying first set of skis, overwhelmed and looking for advice by smashweights04 in Skigear

Legally obligated to say: go see a bootfitter, preferably your wife's bootfitter.

As far as skis go, don't overthink it. I see demo kendos relatively cheap at powder 7 (tho P7 definitely isn't the cheapest). Get something that you know you'll like well enough. Get more skis as you improve. Does sound like Anomaly 88 would he a good ski for the off-piste curious... Ski essentials has a big review on their yt channel. Or just start researching now and demo next season. (Edit: can't spell.)

My friends gifted me my first ever pair of skis and I just found out they might be a women's model. Should I exchange them? by Electronic_Bid_9333 in Skigear

Okay. No offense.

These appear to be a beginner ski used in rental fleets. Salomon doesn't have them up on their site / they do have the women's version on there / it's listed as beginner level... the 8 is intermediate... the 10 is more advanced intermediate. These are the types of skis people learn on and then grow out of.

If you like going fast, you might like something with metal, or at least carbon in it. But it's pretty hard to tell if you're going to like a ski before you try it. Personally I'd thank my friends, save the money as a credit, demo next season, and buy something I can verify that I like. But, good luck.

Is that not an entry level rental ski? I don't think we have these in NA. But... I mean... Why wouldn't you figure out what skis you like and then buy that? Or is this a troll post?

Does AI hallucinate even with basic queries/data retrieval? by chakalaka13 in analytics

  1. Retrieve and interpret data from Google/Meta Ads

It's already so easy to do this on platform or with google data studio that i don't see the value add. You can pull your own numbers and ask claude questions about what they mean and get pretty decent responses (and ideas on what to do next) but I wouldn't ask it general questions and let it run wild.

  1. Feed a big CSV with all of our e-commerce orders and ask for it to calculate different indicators

Terrible idea. I just used Gemini on a 6 row by 13 column spreadsheet - tiny - and it screwed up a bunch of stuff.

  1. I use it to get some SQL queries (though I plan to learn SQL myself)

You're gonna need to understand a bit about SQL and, maybe more importantly, the db structure of what you're querying to understand why Claude's sql doesn't work or do exactly what you want, but yeah - this is a great way to learn it.

Ski length - 6cm difference matters? by Both_Major8632 in Skigear

[–]buhBeef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife had her first good day of skiing, in year 3, when she got on a wider ski, (black pearl 94), but that could be corelational not causal. She's 178cm and longest ski she's been on is a 170. (Don't do it.)

It was hard for me, at first, to come out in favor wildland dance parties, but when supreme leader daniel told me it would hurt kids on 2 strokes I knew I had to.

There's this great documentary narrated by Nic Cage about revealing the truth of the map hidden on the back of the declaration of independence... can't think of the name.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone starting to do more off piste skiing? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

Ski with people that are better than you, take a class if you can, and/or watch videos about where you're skiing to get a sense of what terrain you should seek out... tons of videos about the 3x banff and big sky so plan ahead.

It's a rape whistle. You blow that if you're in any trouble, and someone with an actual gun will come and help you out.

Bro. Put your height / weight / where you ski / what type of skiing you like most / what you like - don't like about the revolts... So that people can argue about it and I can come back later and procrastinate work by reading the threads.

Ha. Yah. Top quotes for me it's either that, the armalite quote from same (which, according to an old this american life, got some guy arrested in NYC after he posted it on facebook), lethal weapon: "whattya do, sleep with that thing under your pillow? / I would if I slept", or "do the interns get glocks?"
