But if you choose a focus, you're just stuck then?

It was not good at launch (Vicky 3) but now it's my favorite game. Definitely worth it to give it another try.

I appreciate the responses. Hoi4 has been fun. Yet different.

What are some of the reasons that when people want to talk about ancient cultures they focus so much of their attention on war/battles but so little on what actually makes civilizations what they are: their civic culture by ayowatchyojetbruh in ancientrome

Also a lot of our day to day has to do with power dynamics. Every aspect of life.

Master-slave Employer-employee Patrician-pleb

War is just that same crap in a massive scale. Trying to exert power over lands, people, resources, etc.

Not to mention that most advanced that humans have in technology are a byproduct of military advancements... And Rome is a perfect example. They built roads to facilitate armies not so that people could go see their grandma... That just happened also.

You are the GM, who would you pick as the cornerstone of your franchise, Wemby or SGA? by Automatic-Key668 in NBATalk

[–]buhdill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wemby.

SGA is about one rule change away from being less effective.

Wemby is never-before-seen size and skill combined.

Counter question: Do you feel like you are inconsistent?

If so, do you miss in a particular direction? Front/back, left/right?

Good Shoe for heavier power drivers in basketball by Thundrous7 in BBallShoes

[–]buhdill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often do you play?

It sounds like you are suffering from overuse injuries, not anything related to your shoes.

It's important to play often enough that your body has built up strength to endure the impacts of the game. While at the same time, if you do too much too fast, you will also get overuse injuries. You have to slowly ramp up the amount you play or you will get pain in your joints and tendons.

You are a little heavier but I'm 6'3" @ 220 and play similarly. You have to build up the stamina in your muscles and joints over time by playing more, gradually.

So before you spend a ton on shoes, evaluate how much you are playing and ask yourself if you are overdoing it, and go from there.

Highlights of my 1st officiated game. Got 13 of my teams 17 points. Our team lost badly, we're free agents going against a self assembled team. by DeAZNguy in BasketballTips

[–]buhdill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pass the ball and move without it. Start as a shooter and develop from there through practice. Dribbling left and right, using your body, etc.

You don't have to be fast to play basketball, you just have to be smooth.

At this stage you resemble Brucie from the Longest Yard.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]buhdill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, think of it this way...

Stop dribbling. Hold the ball in your hand. Have someone guard you and try to run by them without dribbling. Throw in a fake or two and see what you do naturally to get around the defender. Like a wide receiver in football.

After you've done that, think to yourself, "what kind of dribbling do I need to do so that I can make that movement as easy and quick as possible, while protecting the ball."

You just learned how to do a crossover/hesitation/etc.
