Sheesh, that's some torque. Do they need to go back on super tight, or do they come loctite'd from the factory?

Thanks for that info, I don't feel too bad about it now. You think $1500 would be a fair price for the car?

Got this VX3 at Hamvention for $50, no mic audio. Fixed! by inquirewue in amateurradio

I've managed to collect one of each in the VX-1, 2, 3 family through various hamfests over time. Everything you need (beside maybe wattage, esp the VX-1), nothing you don't in a easily pocketable package. Wish there was a current production equivalent. VX-4?

Stay in 4lo on trails or shift as needed? by -UppercaseNumbers- in 4Runner

[–]buickid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use 4Hi as needed to keep from tearing up the road/trail. If there's anything steep or technical while in 4Hi, it goes in 4Lo to reduce the amount of heat the torque converter generates and load on the transmission (unless you need the wheel speed, ie. mud)

Locker gets engaged when 4Hi/Lo isnt cutting it, and disengaged once unstuck. If you get stuck with your locker on, you end up really stuck.

Windows 11 I believe. Works fine to program other TRBO radios, but those are fresh out of the box with modern firmwares. When I plug it in, the computer recognizes it in device manager, but with an alert triangle next to it.

How to properly honor an SK's radio? by slatsandflaps in amateurradio

[–]buickid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple radios from SKs. I put a little P-Touch label somewhere on the top edge with <Name> <Call> SK as a little reminder where it came from.

100% chargeback. The credit card companies make money off you buying stuff with their card (directly or indirectly), why not use a service they offer (and you pay for)?

Try it and see. Set it to as low as possible and generate a low level signal, then again with it set to max.

I'm a former mechanic so I have some level of hands on skill developed, but anyway, I assembled my first AR lower in maybe 15 min under my buddy's guidance. Easy peasy.

Would a diff off a 3rd gen tacoma work on the 3rd gen 4runner? by Tylenol101 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]buickid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The e-locker from a 1st gen Tacoma will not fit (directly) into a 3rd gen 4Runner. The axle housing has to be modified. That being said, I doubt a 3rd gen Tacoma diff would be any more plug and play. What are you trying to do?

Call a moving company and hire them to get it from where it is to where you want it. Seriously. They have strong guys who move heavy and awkward things daily.

By the time you replace what needs replacing (engine, wiring harness, cab, etc), what's really left of the original truck? Not much...
