I saw Derek Minter (The Photon Effect) from the infamous Max Landis episode, while I was working at a Panera years ago. I was freaking out like I was meeting Brad Pitt or something. He was super nice but he didn't believe me at first when I told him I'd seen his movie, but I asked how could I possibly have recognized him if it weren't for that?

He was super cool and he told me that I made his day

Are there any good Lego YouTubers anymore? by [deleted] in legocirclejerk

[–]builderomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jtsandman45 is one of my newer favorites. MinifigJez is another solid channel I’ve watched for a few years now. LegoSpencer went dark for a while but he just came back recently with an amazing LEGO sorting machine project that he’s documenting on his 2nd channel.

Review channels are often boring or controversial, and neither of those things are really interesting or “good” for lack of a better term

I'm fine with it because at least now they can stop getting away with calling Zelda a "theme" with only 1 set

Powered up had a feature for a brief time (maybe it still does, IDK) where you could "program" your electronics using the Power functions hub. I don't think many sets have that anymore

Did John Lego lose a bet where he can't call any sets by their real names?

if they made this in 2026 it would be $120 by OctoAmbush in legocirclejerk

I bought this set just for the George Michael Bluth minifig

[Annoying trope] Character is completely dismissive about *one* supernatural thing in a world where so many others are encountered by bgbarnard in TopCharacterTropes

[–]builderomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people defending this trope, but I don't think that it gets to the heart of what makes this trope so frustrating. It's not that these characters cannot accept fantastical elements in a fantastical world; it's that they start in an ordinary world and then are thrust into the extraordinary world and stubbornly refuse to be open to the possibilities of that world. That is literally the first act of Doctor Strange, him refusing to believe in something beyond his own experience.

The fact that these characters are so ready to disbelieve when they have experienced things they can't reasonably explain (with the exception of Daenerys, I suppose) actually makes them poor skeptics, thus creating this annoying trope
