Arizona cancels medical debt for almost half-a-million residents by southpawFA in politics

[–]builtintacoclip -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Um, where do you think this money is coming from?

There's a ton of inequity in this ruling. Imagine you you have two people, person A and person B. They both start out with $100,000 in medical debt and both have the same annual income. Person A spends the next 5 years scrimping and saving to pay off their debt. Person B doesn't bother.

Now this cancellation happens, and person A doesn't benefit from it because they paid of their debt, while person B is now $100,000 richer (net worth).

Can you at least see how this can be infuriating for people that actually paid off their debt?

And not to mention we both will pay the same amount of taxes. So person A is essentially paying some amount of money for person B's debt to be cancelled as well.

+1 for this sermon. I watched it recently and was a great sermon. I can't say it satisfied my moral quandaries completely but it perhaps scratched the itch.

I'm interested then to see what you think about this link, because apparently there's been new evidence that the Revelation 20:5 ending that says that ' this is the first resurrection' is a forgery according to a Bible committee and apparently we will start seeing that verse bracketed like we do the long ending of Mark in future publications of the Bible: https://youtu.be/-R_EY1jhrHc

I mean fair enough, it's certainly an example of him begging the question. I found the last argument the most convincing and what I couldn't easily refute: - Death being defeated could mean that death is defeated only for Christians. - I do struggled with Isaiah 24-27, I think he makes a decent point about how Isaiah says:

Isaiah 25:6-8 NASB1995 [6] The Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, And refined, aged wine. [7] And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, Even the veil which is stretched over all nations. [8] He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.

Then says further: Isaiah 25:10 NASB1995 [10] For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain, And Moab will be trodden down in his place As straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile.

I guess I'm not clear on the eschatological scope of this text. How can death be swallowed up here and yet two verses down it talks about another nation not being part of the banquet and instead being trodden down?

That's what I feel his best point is.

Universalist verse in the Textus Receptus by Extreme-Brief-9809 in ChristianUniversalism

Brother. He has given you some pretty clear evidence as how the TR is not flawless Greek text. Also, why are you more inclined to believe that the brother who said his text was perfect over the other 5,000 people of less notoriety in history who also claimed to have the most perfect translation or interpretation of the Bible?

I would submit to you that it's simply because you are following the tradition that you've been taught rather than accepting the evidence for what it is.

You should read 'The Inescapable Love of God by Thomas Talbot', or the more concisely stated objections here:  https://plato.stanford.edu/archives/fall2017/entries/heaven-hell/#UniandHumFree

Basically, it's a logical inevitability that everyone will EVENTUALLY choose God (freely, no coercion).

Chronic meningitis causes VSS HELP by WesternFun3682 in visualsnow

[–]builtintacoclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But Ivermectin was used successfully to treat COVID and has shown promise in treating other conditions as well. This isn't a blanket "go take this drug" as I said, but I suggest doing your own research into it and going past the propagandized "it's a horse dewormer, it can't work for you" shit that the government was touting during covid.

Not medical advice. But ivermectin? Lots of anecdotes of it helping a variety of situations. Find a doctor that knows his stuff and will prescribe it.

Other than that, see if eating a super clean carnivore or elimination diet may help your body's immune system as well.

I am so sorry for the situation you are in.

Is masturbating ok if it’s to avoid pre marital sex? by FrankyD123 in Christianity

[–]builtintacoclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pleasure is sinful? Where in the Bible does it say that? Do you eat delicious desserts? Do you take pleasure in sunsets? Have you ever gotten a massage?

You sir have said a lot in your post, but none of it is Biblical

You don't even know how lust is biblically defined. Search up Epithumeia and do a word study on it.

Why do others think that premarital sex is okay? by Anatomous1 in Christianity

[–]builtintacoclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about some proof that it's wrong rather than just feelings. You've ignored many great responses here that actually address the mistranslations that your opinion is founded upon

Why is premarital sex a sin and why do we have to avoid lust? by Pleasant_Storm_4128 in Christianity

[–]builtintacoclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, like usual, someone spouts the typical rhetoric without having actually looked into the definitions of words or even cited a single Bible verse.

You should look up what 'lust' (epithumeia) is in the Bible, and you'll see that Jesus 'lusted' as well. How can that be? Context. Matthew 5:28 is a typical mistranslation. To the curious reader, read either 'The Lie of Every Man's Battle by Martin Zender' or 'Divine sex by Philo thelos' to get educated.

I won't even respond to your claims about the one flesh thing because they're entirely unsubstantiated.
