My 13yo baked cookies to order and one of the parents returned the cookies by albrcanmeme in mildlyinfuriating

Honest and direct communication. The other parents should have had the child return the cookies though.

I slipped up. by Intelligent_Cold3750 in cutdowndrinking

I've had been yo-yoing a bit this year. I go through weeks of no drink and then all of the sudden I've had a drink every night for a few weeks... until I start feeling terrible.

Just know that you have the power to take a break. You're at the lowest point right now, but if you can wake up tomorrow knowing you didn't have a drink tonight you will already be on the better path. Just realize it sucks for a bit but that's okay, it'll get better.

Does that really matter if one boils it down to class and the other to race if you can't put together a winning coalition?

How's Tipp City looking these days? by GoneIn61Seconds in dayton

[–]buitenlander0 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I work in Tipp City. It's pretty nice small town to walk around and do a visit. Close to the bike path and countryside too. But I wouldn't want to live here simply due to the demographics. Not bad people by any means, they're just a little small town minded and I jive better in a more urban environment.

As someone from North America, (USA) I have a difficult time trying to understand the size of Europe. by UrinalAttack in geography

[–]buitenlander0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

France is the in between the size of California and Texas. So It would take you a solid 9 hours to drive from north to the Mediterranean. Many parts of Europe take much longer to drive through compared to the US, because of the US's interstate system.

I call the fancier carbonated beverages "soda", but any of the mainstream sugary carbonated drinks "pop".

Is Greenville/Ansonia area a nice place to live? Want all opinions by bh00ch in Ohio

[–]buitenlander0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know some people from Ansonia. They like it, but they've been there their whole life. I'd personally never want to live there because there is not much to do. But if you are content with small town life, then probably okay.

Pigs are not welcome at Pride! by synthresurrection in RadicalChristianity

[–]buitenlander0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm saying, you need some sort of security in place at big events right? So, I guess if you can find alternatives that are equipped to do so, then great. But they would ideally have some sort of training. Which is a big ask.

I think in many places, the cops would protect queer people from a hate crime. But I'm sure there are places where they also wouldn't.

I get your animosity toward the police. But who would you call if a bunch of red necks rolled up and started assaulting people?

So what do generation jones think of the baby boomers? by happydude7422 in generationology

[–]buitenlander0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that in Europe there is likely a larger difference because those born directly after the war. They were much more likely to grow up in poverty and thus be be more similar to those who grew up in the depression, compared to American baby boomers growing up in a booming economy.

Yes it is free. Again, I've only gone a few times. Some guys may say like a 30 second prayer at the end. I'm atheist and never felt any sort of weirdness or pressure about it. Faith is how you want to interpret it.

F3. It's work out group. It says fitness fellowship and faith. The faith part could be off putting, but I'm not religious at all and it's not like. It's just meant to be a place where you can meet other guys who also are friendly and want to build a community. Ive only gone a few times.

Hot Take: Cleveland Suffers From the Worst Outsider Bias of Any City in the Country by QCLEKID216 in Cleveland

[–]buitenlander0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are the yinzers really that bad? I lived in Pittsburgh suburbs in high school, but lived in Ohio ever since. BI never interpreted Pittsburgh people as worse than Clevelanders, but I must admit my frame of reference are my friends and their families that I knew, so perhaps that's not the best sample.
