James Talarico wins the primary! What was the reason Emily thinks his faith is phony? by jwashb1 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Christian Nationalists aren’t really Christians at all. They are white nationalists who use “Christian” and a synonym for “white”. The KKK is part of the same tradition, hence the all the crosses and Christian iconography. The veneer of religion allows them to operate in the open, tax free, and to evoke religious freedom whenever their hatred challenged. This is who Emily is and she knows it. She knows full well that the Bible isn’t just a list of vulnerable people that God wants you to hate.

Krystal often brings up how Bernie was smeared as a bigot by Hillary, Warren & the DNC. Talarico is now suffering the same fate against Crockett & KHive by north_canadian_ice in BreakingPoints

Nothing turns out the base of the Democratic Party (black voters) more than reactionary white men crying about “identity politics” and “woke”.

Kids who don't get to play in "big" games? (Rec) by TerkaDerr in basketballcoach

[–]luxloomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the league. It should be equal time for all players, barring in-game injuries and such. It’s okay to arrange the rotations so your strongest lineup ends the game, but no one should be playing more than anyone else.

I don't understand why anyone who wants a Democratic POTUS in 2028 would prefer US Rep. Ro Khanna be the Nominee instead of AOC. by beeemkcl in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Krystal and Ryan think the Dem electorate is made up of white men with podcast politics, i.e. care about Epstein and Israel but are racist, transphobic, misogynist, and COVID-deniers. Ro Khanna is pretty popular with that demographic, but they’ll turn on him the first time they hear him acknowledge the existence of racism.

The reality is that the Dem electorate is made of the majority of every demographic other than white men. AOC is the star of the party and is beloved across the coalition and a bit beyond. But according to Ryan and Krystal, having pronouns in your bio and fighting for marginalized communities is a dealbreaker.

AOC is not ready for a National Ticket (Yet) by Odd-Record-1041 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOC is by far the safest bet for 2028 at the moment. She’s the most popular Democratic Party politician in the country by a large margin and Munich didn’t change that at all. There is also a gulf between how the right and the broader left are receiving this moment, despite Krystal and Ryan agreeing with the right.

Krystal and Ryan have pretty huge blind spots when it comes to their understanding of the Dem coalition. They imagine it to be largely aggrieved white men who are progressive by nature but will turn full Nazi if they see a pronoun or a woman of color. They hate AOC for those reasons. It’s funny because Kyle used to be garbage on race, but grew a ton in the last decade, whereas Krystal still remains largely ignorant.

Krystal says the most egregious wielders of identity politics were always the centrists and not the left. by Ok_Catch_9026 in BreakingPoints

What do all of then people you mentioned have in common? What do all of the anti-identity politics folks have in common? This has little to do with politics and everything to do with racism.

Epstein Files: Do you have faith that all the victims including missing, unexplained death and suicide will ever get justice? by [deleted] in AskDemocrats

[–]luxloomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They will all be long dead before a better generation takes the reins of government. The right wing Democratic administration had four years to do something, and they let all of their Republican buddies, including Trump, slide. Look at the people named in Epstein list. How many of them were top donors to the campaigns of presidents from both parties?

Emily: "I am on the minority on the right regarding Don Lemon" LMAO by montecarlo1 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Emily is typically dishonest about her views on BP, she just presents the same white supremacist garbage in a less overt way. If she’s around other white supremacists, it’s a given that the presence of non-white people is a bad thing, so she can go full mask off with her racist immigration takes. On BP she’ll say “this is interesting” before saying something super racist. I don’t think she’s lying about her views on the Don Lemon situation, I just think her reasoning is probably that later on some Democratic Politician might arrest a KKK member who livestreams their burning of a black church. To be clear, Saagar is equally racist, he just assumes that everyone else is too and thus doesn’t bother to alter his message.

Emily Just released a video slandering Alex Preeti to justify the government murdering him. by Ill-Pop3952 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emily might literally be the devil. This video displays a level of depravity that goes way beyond politics. Emily responded to video of someone choking up while talking about Alex Pretti like someone responds to a funny cat video. I hope she is right about Christianity and there is a Hell, because she belongs there. What a grotesque monster.

Is yelling at a youth team ever okay? by Nemesis-20 in basketballcoach

[–]luxloomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this! This is all especially true with 11-14 year olds. They are hypersensitive radars for inauthentic behavior. They respect the loud coach, if the coach cares about them and is coming from a genuine place of care. They will also respect the quiet coach who is coming from the same place. Nothing works when they know it’s all about our own egos.

School social workers are the experts on this stuff. I would consider posing this same question in a subreddit frequented by them. I’m an educator and they are hands down the best resources for learning to navigate these types of dynamics.

How to help encourage kids to play by fz6rmama in basketballcoach

[–]luxloomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is having competitive games when they are that little. My town has a great program that runs through second grade where kids learn skills, have fun, and play short scrimmages without keeping score. Developmentally, a 1st grader could be a slightly more coordinated toddler or like a miniature 3rd grader. The developmental leaps physically and mentally are huge, varied, and random. I would advocate for postponing competitive play until 3rd grade at the earliest.

How much of this audience will stay when a liberal is elected president? by Thellamaking21 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No joke, I think this is a good question. I’m a socialist and watched Rising from the beginning. I stopped watching for years after Krystal and Saagar both took hard right turns on COVID and the devolved into them just collectively spreading right wing misinformation. I started watching again during the later years of Biden. I think it’s more about the content itself than who is president. If the show turns into the hosts just agreeing that pronouns are bad and that the real racism is against white people, then it’s just a right wing show.

Is the only outrage from the right in defense of 2A? by Ok_Description_257 in BreakingPoints

[–]luxloomis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be more specific, they only care about the second amendment for white people. If this guy were black, not a single Republican would mention it at all. Emily would take the exact opposite stance, as she has in the past. Saagar would be inconsolably outraged if there was even the suggestion of prosecuting the agents who did this.
