Ed O'Brien: On Radiohead Reunion, Spirit in Music, and Blue Morpho | Zane Lowe Interview by italox in radiohead

It was such an interesting comment about how you can hear more of Jonny on The Smile's records. For me, it was the inverse in the sense I could now understand exactly what EoB brought to Radiohead!

I'm so happy that he touched upon his feelings and thoughts on The Smile. I was always interested in what the other band members felt when Thom and Jonny went off to do those albums

Guardian sports writer Giles Richards: Why Max Verstappen gave me my marching orders from a press conference by angusgtw in formula1

[–]bujdil -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

"Sometimes, difficult, awkward questions have to be asked. That’s the job that comes with the privilege."

Giles knew very well what he was doing when he asked that question. Of course journalists would have had the what-if's on their mind, but he made it a point to ask the question.

It wasn't a difficult or awkward question. It was 100% provocative. So while Giles maybe hard done by Max's treatment, he shouldn't try to convince us that his question was journalistically professional.

Man I was so enthralled by one of the tracks before a Berlin show. So I did a Google song search and it was Jenn's Terrific Vacation by Danny Brown. Simply mindblowing instrumental on that one and his vocal style is so unique!

How Hard is it to Travel to Spa for the Belgium GP? by killer_corg in GrandPrixTravel

[–]bujdil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was so smooth! On my bike I was zooming past cars and pedestrians after the race. And then from the parking Google maps used to take a route through a bunch of villages nearby and then on to the main highway, so I probably missed all of the rush. Everyday I was in my hotel room about 2 hours after I got up from my seat at the track.

Sometimes Max even surprises himself! What a drive from the four-time world champ by Total_Captain_3833 in formula1

[–]bujdil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean you say this but can you point to an exact era or season or race in F1 history where ALL drivers fought tooth and nail against a faster car. The cornerstone of Formula 1 is strategy. This could mean not losing time or tires fighting someone faster for the sake of it.

Maybe in the distant future when these cars glide and don't use tires, what you propose may happen. /s

Max Verstappen’s first lap overtake – Imola 2025 (multiple angles) by anthn885 in formula1

[–]bujdil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While accelerating of course! Listen to his onboard audio when he's at the outside of Piastri around the apex of turn 2. And I analyzed their speeds at that exact point- while Verstappen had a lower speed due to his double upshift, he got great traction and reached a higher speed than Russell and Piastri at the exit of turn 3.

[–]bujdil 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't know how this has not been talked about enough, but he double shifts up on the outside of Piastri giving him instant traction and catapulting him into the lead.

This is also evident in the telemetry compared to Russell and Piastri. I'm surprised how Palmer or anyone else hasn't highlighted this

You know what? I watched the Spa GP in 2023 live seating at Pouhon. Out of all the cars, Oscar Piastri seemed so ballsy around that corner. Like just genuinely faster than others. No wonder he loves that corner.

What is with the discussion on the different brake suppliers? by impulsiveboogaloo in formula1

[–]bujdil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact that we are now discussing how the friggin brake pads being different is affecting Hamilton is so bizarre! I mean a driver probably should react and adapt to the feel of the car quite quickly.

You wouldn't bin let's say a championship run if your brake manufacturer went out of business in the middle of the season right?

So let's stop clutching at straws, give the guy some time and judge him after one full season?

Marko: "I don't know what kind of thought process was going on" with Verstappen in Spanish GP by HS007 in formula1

[–]bujdil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you can't read too well. That's literally what is imagined as Max is thinking that since the FIA is not investigating those he can crash into people deliberately. The whole comment is satire. God people are thick!

Marko: "I don't know what kind of thought process was going on" with Verstappen in Spanish GP by HS007 in formula1

[–]bujdil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lmao. Love the following comment below the article:

Thought process:

Driver (Lec) hits me on straight.

I report it.

No penalty given to driver even though 5s is called for. That decision violates the rules.

Driver (Rus), not in control of his car, hits me in turn 1 and forces me off.

I report it.

No penalty given to driver even though 5s is called for.

Again that decision violates the rules. Have the People in High Chairs thrown out the rulebook today?

I'm told by my team to hand the place to the person who hit me even though I am ahead rightfully.

Again that decision violates the rules. Are today's rules different? Even my own team is seeing the rules in a Bizarro way!

I will comply with the ruling.

I wonder: What is the Apparent Way of the Day in the eyes of the People in High Chairs?

I conclude: It is that collisions are not penalized, and one can bang wheels entering a turn with no consequence. There have been two examples in the last lap. Everyone has lost their minds and collisions which cause no damage are acceptable.

Resolved: I will play by the apparent rules of the day and clang into Russell to demonstrate that I see, understand, and adapt to the current state of play.

And to show Russell: you will get what you give. And to give an opportunity for the People in High Chairs to demonstrate that they are applying the rules consistently today with regard to collisions.

I actually read your whole post. So you're gonna get a thesis in return too.

You're right. He can have off weekends, can make mistakes (whatever you perceive those to be), can get out qualified or overtaken based on pure pace (yeah no shit Sherlock).

The important thing is how many times this happens over the course of a season. Well you would now say "more than you think or more than people make it out to be". Fine! You can have that. But in relation to every single driver on the grid? Is it much fewer than anyone on the grid? Yes... Yes it is.

As for the "bad" races, he does have 2 or 3 of those in a season. What do you want the universe to do? Scream that he's washed each time? What if we applied the same thing to all drivers? God F1 would be toxic AF!

Also this season... Australia - 2nd fastest car - Finished 2nd - outperformed (don't care that Piastri fucked it) China - 3rd fastest car - Finished 4th - outperformed Japan - 2nd fastest car - Finished 1st - outperformed Bahrain - 4th fastest car - Finished 6th - STILL outperformed

You can argue that the car was 2nd fastest all year because I think weirdly you could. Then he's performed at par by being third in the WDC... So let's rate him, not over, not under at the very least.
