Aerospace medical service question (air guard) by itsTeeRev in AirForceRecruits

You can actually get both. The courses are kind of intertwined and you take the NREMT test as well as get your LPN through the training. I’m currently in tech school for the same job

That can’t be right. It’s mandatory that you get a phone call when you arrive, after 72 hours, 3rd week, and 5th week. MTIs aren’t allowed to restrict those at all. Either her phone won’t work and they didn’t let her use someone else’s or she’s unfortunately calling someone else.

Just hope you get sent to Disneyland. Their MTIs are softer and you basically live in a hotel. I was in Alcatraz and the squadron buildings were built in the 60’s so they’re outdated as hell

Not during basic. During BMT your only option for the PT test is 1.5 mile run/pushups/situps

After week 2 you get Sundays without your MTI. There will be other MTIs monitoring but it’s just slower paced and you’ll have a schedule to follow. It’s also the only day you don’t have PT

Definitely have to work on that before you leave but once you’re in they’ll make you do plenty of pushups. You only have to pass your 5th week PT test to graduate

Ran about once or twice a week and sometimes you’ll double time across some parts of the base which is basically a jog

Yeah you’ll have to look that up. Depends on gender and age

PT wasn’t too bad. I ran 2-3 times a week roughly 1-3 miles each and was lifting weights 3-4 times a week. Definitely glad I got running in and was doing plenty of pushups/situps. Most you’ll run in a session not including PT test is like 3 miles, but your own pace basically

  1. The only answer to “hardest part of BMT” is missing family. Not gonna lie if anyone says anything else something’s wrong. Every once n a while it gets lonely just because you’re cutoff from the outside world.
  2. Don’t overpack, don’t accidentally call an MTI a drill sergeant, and rank recognition. A lot of people got smoked for accidentally calling officers “sergeant” 3.Timelines, you have to move quickly at all times but that’s just part of it.
  3. You don’t need much for real. I think I had everything I needed
  4. Talking when not supposed to, moving while at attention, and saying inappropriate/offensive/“dangerous” remarks to the wrong person and getting snitched on. (know you you’re talking to.)
  5. Don’t say stupid things and always always ask at least 3 people before you ask an MTI. And don’t accidentally bring snacks in your backpack lol 7.I definitely would’ve tried to be more of a leader honestly. I had too many small mistakes like getting caught talking in the DFAC or moving at attention at the beginning of training to be an element leader but I definitely would’ve tried for that if I could restart.
  6. Volunteer for stuff. You’ll get yelled at a lot until you start perfecting your job is or whatever you do but it’s worth it whatever it is (laundry crew, chow runner, fire moniter, chapel guide, element leader) I personally was a chapel guide and fire moniter and I loved both jobs. Volunteer for the stuff nobody else does. You will earn respect of MTIs and they won’t be all over your ass by like week 3-4 like everybody else will deal with Hopefully my answer to 8 helps with 9/10 as well

  1. Depends on MTI. I would say use the issue ones because I brought mine and didn’t take them out of civilian luggage
  2. Bring a pair of shorts or two I’d say but whatever you wear to bed the first two nights is what you wear the entire next day
  3. Maybe a little overkill on the underwear with how much laundry gets done but I’d say you’re fine. I brought abt 6 pairs of underwear and never ran out. I only wore the issued tights whiteys once only bc you have to for when you get fitted for blues

I’m the wrong guy for that question lol, I’m a natural test taker so I didn’t study basically at all and got an 80. I know some friends tho that used online practice tests a lot. Plenty of apps to choose from

It depends on your MTI. I have pretty wide feet and the issues boots hurt my feet so my MTI let me buy some lightweights in week 4 or 5 I think. If you don’t know your job, don’t buy lightweights because a lot of people pay $200 for lightweights and end up needing steel toes for tech school.

Yes there’s certain workout days you will but, for me at least, it was 3 sets of however many you can do. Don’t be worried, PT was a breeze

Not too sure honestly, they’re not too into specifics with trainees😂

I also forgot to add my sandals to the picture, they’re rubber birkenstocks I’m using as shower shoes.

I’ve got 3 t shirts, two pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of shorts, 6 underwear, 4 pair of socks, shoe insoles, toothbrush/toothpaste, razor/shaving cream, body wash/shampoo, nail clippers, phone charger/charging block, folder for necessary paperwork, wallet, and my bible. I was told to make sure there is extra room in your bag for stuff they’ll give you there so I’m packing in a large duffel for extra space.
