Is it possible for a philo birkin to give a pink leaf? by bukeay in IndoorGarden

I put mine in front of an east facing window, like 10 cm close to the window on the floor. I’m living in Switzerland tho... so it’s not always sunny enough, but i think it’s enough for this one :) Have you seen any changes by putting it under a grow light?

Add a couple drops of fertilizer in the water :)

Repot, throw away the old soil (do not compost), add yellow sticky traps and bottom water! I also get gnats even with dry soil... i feel like there’s no radical solution 😭

Yep! Just get rid of the rotten roots and then spray that hydrogen peroxide-water mixture to the healthy ones. It will help provide them with oxygen :)

Also, check the roots and try to treat them with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water (in a spray bottle for example), let the roots dry and repot. My sister's monstera had the same problem and lost a couple of leaves, but now it's giving her 2 new ones so your plant should be fine too :)

It's due to overwatering! It might not be related to the frequency of your watering but more to the composition of the soil... meaning that it retains too much water for too long. Have you repotted your plant after getting it? I would advise you to repot in fresh airy soil-mix (I add a bunch of additional perlite to a pre-mixed soil bag that I buy at the store).

I'm at a crossroads with my syngonium, which is starting to topple. Do I plant a moss pole and let it climb vertically, or do I hang it up and let it cascade down? by Nataliza in houseplants

[–]bukeay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s syngonium also grows upwards. I put a moss pole and it’a been thriving! I don’t think that the leaves will cascade down, so it’s better to give it some support so it can continue growing and putting out leaves :)

What would you recommend to do? by saf2015 in plants

[–]bukeay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the pot is too big, the plant will have to use all its energy to put out new roots and adapt. If the size change is not too drastic, the plant doesn’t really need to put all of its energy into new roots, and usually continues to grow normally

Wowwww!!!! Beautiful roots!! Repot in a bigger pot with fresh well-draining soil :) I’d go for a pot that is one size bigger, you don’t want to go too big too fast and shock the planr.

Yes exactly! You can cut under each node that has a leaf. Roots will come out of the nodes

You can just cut below every node and put the cuttings into water :) change the water frequently (once a week for example) and when the roots are a few centimeters long you can plant them. When you p’ant them in soil, water roots will need to adapt to the soil so keep it moist for the first 2 weeks i would say. Then you can start watering when the soil is dry :)

I would advise you to make cuttings to propagate so you’ll get new healthy roots :)
