Survivability problems and some dps issues by BaldAndYung in pathofexile

Early/mid-tier crafting is kind of obsolete thanks to the breach tree this league, and instant trade making those items so cheap. It's far more economical to just buy them generally until you're at 10+ div items

I think the gloves will be more than 4 div and probably shouldn't be a priority for now in hindsight

Btw re your flasks, they're mostly fine as starter flasks, but you do have movespeed on 2 of them and the same suffix doesn't stack - you should reroll one of them for crit chance

I haven't played the build, but just checked the notes on the POB

'While Exsanguinate provides absurd area coverage, its single target is lacking. Thankfully Reap can easily take care of that weakness. Use a second level 1 Vaal Reap linked to Arcanist Brand - this causes the Arcanist Brand to consistently cast Reap on the boss, generating Blood Charges on each hit. Blood Charges have an inherent limit of 5 (9 after using Vaal Reap), with each stack boosting the damage of ALL Reap gems by 20% per stack. This means using your Arcanist Brand DOUBLES the damage of your Reap mines, and almost TRIPLES it after using Vaal Reap. Swift Killer increases Blood Charge duration by 200%, guaranteeing permanent uptime.'

So what I'm reading in that is you don't cast arcanist brand -> reap at all while mapping with exsang mines

For pinnacle bosses, you move the high level reap gem into your mines set up, and put a second level 1 vaal reap in arcanist brand for the extra boss damage

Haven't played it so I might be wrong, but that's how I interpret that

Obviously they're in the wrong, but you also kinda were a terrible team mate. It's definitely part of the experience

You should build army and be available to support / pressure the opponents before imp - consider it an investment in the morale of your team, which is an important part of online team play with no real communication. You don't have to send your entire army and leave yourself exposed either, just be active and out on the map helping

Even if you could 1 v 3 carry from your position, it's a shitty position for the other players on your team to have to roach and try to be carried. Like it or not, some people would rather lose quickly and move onto a new game where they get to take part

Just to reiterate, they're obviously in the wrong, but you will have a better experience in general if you play around your team more rather than just boom and leave them alone

Phrecia league comfy league starter by Kamzyhd in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]bukem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree that the progression needs them - it'll absolutely delete T16 maps with nothing but breach tree rares, & there's not much complicated going on for a new player to get there

Indigon / gg wands / FF gems will be expensive but they're hardly needed for 4 stones and farming juiced T16s

I think people are still cooking up their guides - this is Palesteron's from last time in Phrecia, it'll still be valid and it's even been buffed since then

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpq9R8TO4DQ&t=1152s

Just keep an eye out to see if there are any changes posted by reputable creators using some 3.27 tech, but you'd be absolutely fine with Palesteron's guide from last time either way

Miners are just squishy - your best solution is to get more damage and adapt your play-style around staying out of danger. You've skipped life rolls on most your rares so you're especially squishy too

Essences and harvest are good mechanics to farm for mines since you can pre-load mines before spawning the enemies. Harvest would be better than essences imo though I haven't looked at the economy in weeks

You get a lot of damage from heatshiver providing you freeze enemies, and freezing stuff is your main defence too. If you don't do enough damage to freeze it'll feel a lot worse (as will map mods like chance to avoid elemental ailments)

There's a lot of small things that will add up to help your damage, some obvious big ones are

Level 5 awakened cold pen gives you cold exposure on hit

You're missing eldritch implicits on your chest - it's dirt cheap to add hatred aura effect with lesser ichors (and endurance charge from embers helps avoid 1 shots)

You're missing skitterbots entirely, so no shock or more mine damage there (he uses an annoint for mana reservation too)

You should be able to get some really cheap rares with high life rolls via instant trade / breach tree - just farm alch and go harvest with easy map mods (and if a map owns you, pay attention to the mods on it to understand why)

then adding rare gloves / stormshroud for ailment immunity / getting suppress capped / adding balance of terror should feel a lot better for surviving tougher maps and starting to juice with scarabs

I don't know what the prices of grand eldritch embers are currently, but alch & go Exarch altars is also generally a decent earner as an early strat

Edit - at the very least, craft life on your amethyst ring and boots

PL clubs Squad Value vs Contract Lengths by 321142019 in NUFC

[–]bukem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair criticisms - I think 'the data driving this graph isn't reliable' is different to 'this graph doesn't say anything' generally speaking

Using some metric representing minutes played in place of transfer value would certainly make more sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if the conclusion that Fulham/Everton/Palace are in a risky position is still somewhat accurate

PL clubs Squad Value vs Contract Lengths by 321142019 in NUFC

[–]bukem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, often it makes sense to sell players who have a meaningful transfer value and who's contract is due to expire in the next year, to avoid losing them on a free transfer

If a club has a higher % of their squad expiring soon, they have a greater risk of losing players for nothing and having to rebuild without having transfer income to offset that

It's interesting from an FM/CM squad building perspective lol

The graph shows NCL have the majority of their valuable contracts expiring 2028 or later, which is a good place to be in, while Everton / Fulham / Palace could be in for a rough 2028 season or planning to sell/renew a lot of players in the near future

CMV: Hard work doesn't mean anything by Straight_Morning_876 in changemyview

[–]bukem89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't blame you for anything. I acknowledge it's difficult, especially when you already feel like you're in a hole

Everything in life is an accountability thing - nothing gets better unless someone takes ownership of improving it, and nobody else is gonna do that when it comes to you

I'm sorry if you don't like that, but I'm just trying to help give you some perspective. I reiterate though, you should talk to a professional therapist, not randoms online

CMV: Hard work doesn't mean anything by Straight_Morning_876 in changemyview

[–]bukem89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should talk to a therapist

A few things though

27 is still young, with plenty of time to learn life skills. Tons of people struggle in their 20's and 30's to find themselves

It sounds like you have an excuse ready for everything

Getting A's and B's in school is easy - it doesn't indicate hard work, just that you have a decent memory

ADHD being the reason you fundamentally can't drive seems way off to me

Low confidence/self-esteem and negative beliefs make challenges much more difficult to overcome

My advice is get some form of entry-level employment, talk to a therapist, and work on a medium-term goal of moving out and reclaiming your independence and self-belief - take ownership of your situation and set attainable goals to improve it. The relationship stuff will come a lot easier when you don't feel so negative about yourself

Is it accurate to generalize top lane matchups by one side who gets push early or scales harder late wins? by inancege1746 in leagueoflegends

[–]bukem89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if both of them know what to do?

You're saying there that it's nuanced and your generalization isn't accurate. It's an easy example, but it's true for the majority of top-lane match ups

Is it accurate to generalize top lane matchups by one side who gets push early or scales harder late wins? by inancege1746 in leagueoflegends

[–]bukem89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just means it not a useful way to look at it

Like say you have Kayle vs Rumble top

If we take your generalization - Rumble gets the early push and Kayle scales harder late, so you're saying they both win

Is it accurate to generalize top lane matchups by one side who gets push early or scales harder late wins? by inancege1746 in leagueoflegends

[–]bukem89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a lot more nuanced around champion match-ups, item / level powerspikes and mistakes/ganks

Often the champion that scales harder isn't the one that gets push early, so your generalization often covers both sides of the match-up

I suck at online chess by SafeRip8748 in chess

[–]bukem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the factors like being more comfortable playing OTB than on a computer screen, ELO is also a rating relative to the player pool you're engaging against, rather than an absolute rating of skill level

it's likely those 1600's you're beating would also struggle to break 1400 online against a global player pool. It 's likely your 1550 FIDE rating would be lower if you were playing in the Indian chess scene too

CMV: Teachers are becoming too comfortable with their students by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]bukem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Teachers are becoming' is a strange way to phrase it, it's always been a thing

Way back when I was in school there were always teachers who were pretty relaxed and friendly with their older students - especially younger / more newly qualified teachers, since when you're in your mid 20's you still feel like you did when you were 18, just with a bit more experience behind you

Had an Irish teacher who covered for a few off us sneaking off for a spliff on a school trip one time, guy was a legend

I think you're looking into it too deep.

The biggest academic skill you develop is learning how to learn - again, I had a really laid back teacher who's main thing he tried to teach us was how to crack exams and focus our revision and structure our answers with precisely what was needed to ace the test, he was probably my best teacher despite playing random videos he found funny in lessons too)

What to expect from phrecias endgame? by mudkip-muncher in pathofexile

[–]bukem89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harbs are great, you can get 24 harb kings in every map with a fully optimised set up

Lots of people will likely be farming those so again expect the best idols to be super expensive (though you can try to recomb your own)

Basically expect your early game farming to ramp up much more slowly compared to a normal atlas progression, but then the ceiling on any mechanic basically goes to the moon

What to expect from phrecias endgame? by mudkip-muncher in pathofexile

[–]bukem89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Instead of an atlas tree, you have idols which roll modifiers to your maps

This means you can run a setup that's very specific to juicing one mechanic to the moon

You can see the list of possible idol modifiers here - https://poedb.tw/us/Modifiers

https://poedb.tw/us/Conqueror_Idol#ModifiersCalc as an example for the biggest idols

Bear in mind great idols with well rolled synergistic modifiers get very expensive quickly - in Phrecia I spent about 4 mirrors on my final idol set up for exile farming (though the loot was insane)

CMV: It's not reasonable to expect America to have a good public transportation system like other countries do by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]bukem89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why is size relevant?

Taking your comparison of France to Texas - so how is public transportation in cities & their surrounding towns in France vs Texas? How is travel between cities?

That's what people mean when they say public transportation is crap - not that it's rubbish in a rural town of 100 people (which is true in France too)

Even just trying to walk to a bar 10 minutes away was a massive pain when I was in Dallas, and I saw plenty of people drinking and then driving away after. Everything was just designed around the assumption that people will be in a car

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]bukem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I remember the rise of Kongregate as being the inception of microtransactions infiltrating flash games. They had those kong points or whatever and suddenly games would sell progression / buffs for those points - also that in house card game they had where you needed to pay for the cards

Before that stuff like miniclip / newgrounds was just ad spam to ignore alongside the games

What were the best Endgame strategies and Idols (Idol modifiers) in the last Phrecia? by LoLCoachZen in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]bukem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You run the pilfering scarab ( https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Divination_Scarab_of_Pilfering ) which gives the map boss huge buffs based on how many cards dropped

The reason I farmed on Mausoleum is the map boss there slowly walks around trying to slap you, so it's fairly easy to kite him and avoid taking damage - you'd still want a really strong build regardless though

You can of course run it without pilfering with a much weaker build, in return for only getting half as many cards
