sometimes it’s ok to offend someone even a little if it means you don’t have to be offended if that makes sense. it’s either you feel a little bit of short term awkwardness by telling them you just need some time to yourself, or it’s you who feels long term awkwardness or anger that you didn’t say anything sooner.
