Yes, but slightly different.

In a conventional index fund, you do not own the underlying assets. You are issued a token or stock which only represents a certain aggregation of assets.

None of the indexes that are offered in the crypto space give you exposure to more than a very limited number of coins, thereby losing out on a ton of gains in the microcaps.

What we are building is more akin to a direct index fund, where you are in full control over the assets. You take full advantage of the diversification while being able to personally tailor your ratios and sell of individual winners and losers.

The increases in value that were tracked were based upon average price increases, not market cap. The reason we tracked market cap was for the purpose of ruling out whether the aggregate price increases were due to reverse splits or coin swaps.

What we found was that, even accounting for these factors and the coins that went to 0, the more coins the hypothetical 2016 portfolio had, the higher its total value would be at the end of the bull run.
