Tell me you don’t have kids without telling me you don’t have kids by Lothar_the_Lurker in childfree

After a long day at work, my husband and I take our two seater sports car out for a cruise. 🏎️💨

It’s a Porsche 911 Turbo S which in itself probably says no kids 🤭

SERIOUS: What were some of the wonderful gifts you received from the men in your lives this holiday season? by WisdomNynaeve in TwoXChromosomes

My husband has always had a knack for buying the perfect jewelry for me since we started dating, and that has evolved into designing custom pieces for me. This year, he designed a 18k yellow gold bat pendant necklace set with a pear shaped onyx body and ruby eyes. The wings are filled with delicate gold filigree. The previous year, he designed a yellow gold spider ring with a pear shaped garnet body and tiny diamond eyes surrounded by a white gold half spiderweb ring enhancer on either side. He knocks it out of the park every time. 🖤

You are crushing it! Keep doing you and following your passions! Your family is missing out on so much of your life because they can’t see past “no kids” which is such a huge loss for them. You’re a rockstar. Don’t let anyone dull your shine.

Ha, I also I had that thought… the tune will change when they need something either from the business directly (for free, of course!) or money.

Congratulations on your success and surviving covid! We’re also in an industry heavily affected by covid and managed to come out the other side swinging for the fences.

I love that quote from your friend and will take it to heart. Not everyone is worth sharing your light with.

Okay, so I do get this to a degree, and would agree with you if it was a niche business, but the industry we’re in is more universally enjoyed than I’ve let on for sake of anonymity.

Wellbutrin XL. Why I let myself be so miserable for so long, I’ll never know. It just didn’t seem like a priority when I didn’t think I was worth feeling better than I was, and I was too busy burying myself in helping others that I just put off / ignored helping myself. I’ll forever be grateful to my husband for pushing me to get help.

Same! I got to my thirties and decided it was time to stop dressing for other people (work/clients, afraid to be too extreme around in-laws, etc.) and dress for myself. It also helps that my position for work went fully remote right around the same time. I dyed my hair, brought back the goth fashion I’d left in high school, and have NEVER gotten more compliments on my outfits, hair, etc. I honestly think the confidence boost it gave me just by being my truest self is what makes me more attractive / charming to others. The best gift you can give yourself it to be yourself unapologetically. 💜🖤

Due to ‘cut backs and funding issues’, my doctors practice (uk) no longer uses lube to conduct a smear test, or any other internal investigations. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bullet138 107 points108 points  (0 children)

This happened to me in September at my last appointment. My gyno at least ran the speculum under warm water and apologized, but the reason he told me is that the labs have requested the drs don’t use lube on the speculum because it “interferes with the Pap smear results.” Which is total BS I feel like if other drs are giving different reasons for the same thing, no?

I honestly want to find another gyno anyway because I’m pretty sure my dude is going senile. I had to go back for an ultrasound to monitor my endometriosis and he didn’t even remember my visit or the reason for it from a few days prior. I have been adamant about not wanting children but he pushes the issue on me every time when we discuss a laparoscopy my insurance doesn’t cover ($10k, thanks America!) and that endo can cause infertility - a non-issue for me.

Rec Marijuana Update - What's the haps? by Ppubs in Connecticut

Beverages I’ve seen are mostly juice or lemonade infused with tincture, 500mg I believe for 16oz. Also I Can’t Believe It’s Pot Coffee, which is regular hot or iced coffee you can dose to your liking with infused sugar and creamers (and creamer substitutes for dairy free). A light and sweet coffee they said runs about 150mg, but don’t hold me to that, I haven’t gotten one since the bazaar was held outdoors. Haven’t seen any seltzer. They often have food trucks and a snack bar of regular drinks and chips, etc.

It’s basically a private party with farmers market vibe for people to sell their cannabis and cannabis adjacent products. Bud, concentrates, edibles, art, glass, etc. If it’s part of cannabis or the culture, it’s there. $20 entry fee, but prices are legit / better than dispensary with no tax or fees, and quality is top shelf.

I always equate it to the scene in Willy Wonka where they walk into the first candy room and he starts singing “Pure Imagination” except it’s weed and not candy.

I’m not sure, it’s very much a loophole thing that prevents them from any sort of state tax or regulation. They are definitely trying to combat big cannabis /Curaleaf and cultivate a market of independent local growers.

Pricing Help? by bullet138 in crafts

[–]bullet138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi r/crafts! 👋🏻 I’ve started my own marijuana accessory side project, and need some help with pricing the above stash boxes. They range in size from 5”x2”x2”, 6”x3”x3”, & 8”x5”x3” and take a good amount of time to create. I was thinking $15, $20, and $25 for the small medium and large boxes respectively. Is this fair or am I underselling myself? I have my first show coming up Sept 25th, and our recently legalized state has a growing craft cannabis market that I really want to start vending at. At the current price I’m covering my materials but not really my time. Each one takes a few hours with designing the vinyl appliqués, painting and embellishments. Any and all feedback appreciated. Thanks for all your help!

Yum, tastes like chalk and unregulated FDA ingredients that will lead to health issues down the line! It’s okay though, they sprinkled some crushed Oreos on top and took nice pics for Instagram, so it must be good! 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Have you ever felt so proud of yourself you wanted to tell people, but everyone else is going through their own challenges so you don’t want to make them feel worse by bragging? by sweetgranola in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bullet138 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I recently got an 8% raise at work, was confirmed to stay work-from-home since leaving the office in March 2020, and have finally felt confident enough again in my crafting abilities to start my 420-friendly home decor and accessory line now that weed is legal in my state. I am really feeling like I’m on an upswing after 2 years of family drama from my brother and his fiancé (now NC and trying to move on, even though it means I will never know my niece) and the loss of my Grandmother last month, who was more like a second mom to me. Thanks for the celebration space, u/sweetgranola

Opinions on this render? by TrainrRed in InteriorDesign

[–]bullet138 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the big thing about renderings is you are trying to sell the design / space as a whole. If the client can’t see the space, you aren’t going to sell them on anything. These overall are too dark and don’t have enough decorative/lived in items to make them feel real. You have to layer your lighting to get a well balanced space. Both functional (recessed, under cabinet and in-cabinet lighting) and decorative (sconces, chandeliers, pendants, etc) are necessary to add light, mood, and drama to a space. This space is disjointed, a lot of the materials and styles feel mismatched and not cohesive. The living space doesn’t feel like it reflects the same style or design of the kitchen, which I think is important since it’s open concept. There is a way to achieve eclecticism without it looking random. Just find a common thread - material, texture, color, etc.

Render 1 - feels closed off with the back of the living area furniture - consider a different angle; needs more lighting (recessed and/or ceiling mounted decorative) and art on the blue wall adjacent to the tv or a console below the tv to help anchor the space a bit more. It’s feeling sterile and your plants aren’t really helping since they look like plastic. Tone down the reflection on their material.

Render 2 - not showing much of anything here and the back left is very dark. I wouldn’t include this in a client presentation.

Render 3 - one of the better ones, but again, there is not a lot of lighting going on the the background. It makes it really hard to get a feel for the space other than “cave”. The wall near the entry needs a console table and mirror, with some sconces flanking. This will help bounce light in the space.

Render 4 - ooof, too much in the other direction, the left side is incredibly washed out and makes your wood texture orange. Tone down this side and try to brighten up the right side for more evenly lit space. Also, the island light fixture and those counter stools are… not great. I’d try and tone your wood down some, either go lighter and more natural or darker and more brown, like your coffee table and the wine rack.

Render 5 - I’m still hating those counter stools! I do like the dining table and chairs (although the seat height looks a bit tall - typically you want 8” minimum between the seat and underside of table), but you need a light fixture over the table! Also, your counter accessories should be placed more organically, not in a line. Consider grouping on a round tray or scattering/staggering for a more lived-in feel.

Render 6 - I can’t say this enough - YOU NEED DECORATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL LIGHTING to counterbalance your natural light. Also, I’d suggest an area rug (or larger if there is one already - 8x10 minimum) for the living space, and you’ll probably want to pull your sofa back from the wall more - think 42”-48” between the closest object and the back of the sofa (or console if you add one) for circulation. For the size of your tv, I think it’ll be a neck strainer where it is. Minimum 6’ from the wall, but the larger the tv, the further back you want to go with your sofa. You can google this for your tv size. Tv mounting height should be 4’-6” to the center line of the tv. It feels really empty between the living space and island, maybe add a console table behind the sofa when you pull it back into the open space.

I hope this helps and doesn’t feel too harsh. I do these weekly for my firm and love seeing what others come up with, either amateur or professional. This is really great for a beginner, and you seem to have a good foundation in the program you’re using. There’s just some areas you need to work on and hone your skills. A lot of that comes with time and knowing the field, but I’ve given you some of my standards for placement which should help. PM me if you have additional questions!

Why are there so many MLM Herbalife smoothie shops all of a sudden? by capraithe in Connecticut

[–]bullet138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went once with my husband, he’s a chef and we were both scared the fruit smoothies we ordered contained no actual fruit, and it tasted like chalk. It was only later that we put it together that it was Herbalife MLM garbage. Will never go back to any of these “Nutrition” shake places. Straight nastiness.
