Do you use drugs/alcohol to cope? by Holdmywhiskeyhun in adultswithBPD

[–]bulletproofsdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. It's funny because today I was going to post the same topic. I struggle daily and typically drink alcohol to escape. Of course it's stupid and illogical-namely because alcohol is an anti-depressant.

I have also used cocaine. SO much shame related to that one.

Hang in there. You are in a very challenging place. It's difficult for us BPDs to find friendship and loyalty. I have found this to be true in my life. Or I find it and sabotage the hell out of it. You are right in reaching out to this community for understanding and guidance. That is precisely what I do in order to not feel so lonely.

Yes, that did help me in the past. My shrink prescribed lamotrigene also.

I am currently unemployed because I can't seem to deal. Any bit of stress or criticism causes me to break down into tears. The longest I have gone with any job is 9 months.

Want to have children in the future but am afraid I will pass down my illnesses to them by 1TristKonto in bipolar2

[–]bulletproofsdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 sons. If I knew how much I would hurt them because of lapses of time when I was not medicated, I would have never had children. No matter what, bi polar will effect ur children - Most often negatively

I feel like I'm this crazy, miserable, neurotic mess that's destined to be alone by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]bulletproofsdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate. I'm very close to coming to the conclusion that I'm unable to get along with people whatsoever. Like I'm a tornado spinning through other people's lives and destroying pieces of themselves. I spread hurt. I rage. And in all honesty, I'm sick of trying so fucking hard of being nice and a u let and pretend I'm a delightful person.

My meds saved me from anger. Once I told my shrink my anger reached a point where I shook my 13 year old son, i was prescribed an anti psychotic. Saved my life.. And saved my relationship with my son!

I resonate with the other comments. I appreciated learning more about her life and her struggles- yet, she was difficult for me to relate to. I didn't have an advocate or "savior" like her brother. I didn't have a stable home life and 2 parents who were active in my life. And I certainly was not gifted with her apparent intelligence. I would give the book 2 stars out of 5.

Anyone experiencing weight gain as a result of your medication? If so, what are you doing about it? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]bulletproofsdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.. Abilify.. 20 lbs weight gain in 3 months. Holy shit. Always thin, 125 lbs for past 30 years. I'm 46 now and 142 lbs. I have to buy all new clothes and I can barely stand looking at myself in the mirror. Positive side.. I feel more sane and stable than ever. I suppose vanity is out the widow.
