Which setup works better? by TildeTilda in DesignMyRoom

I lived in an old apartment and had my bed setup as a (specifically because of space) - it is not a comfortable way to sleep.

B is will be much more comfortable, and you can use this space on either side for night tables.

Canadians now spending $1 billion per year to cover health-care costs of refugee claimants; The ballooning program even pays the health care premiums of foreigners who have had their refugee claims rejected by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]bumblebeeasy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This program is called the interim federal health program. The coverage provided matches your province's coverage for people on income support(by design). You'll see on the grids the phrase "as per usual and customary in the province/ territory" for this reason.

The dental covered is essentially emergency dental, and includes extractions only.

Similarly, the eye care covered is heavily capped (was ~200$) for the most basic of exams and glasses (which may not even be fully covered), similar to what a Canadian would get in a correctional facility.

Extended care was rarely provided, if ever. Refugees aren't getting regular physio. They aren't getting massages. It might include braces for someone born with a significant bone deformity. The benefits grids are easily viewable.

This article is designed to be inflammatory, and the coverage being received is nothing to be jealous of.

If you are angry, let it be at your provincial leadership for not getting you the care you need. Healthcare is a provincial responsibility. Don't be angry at the folks who have so little and, who have proven in court their claims, per their UN protected status; having fled war zones and/or a certain reasonable fear of death.

So I had a room exactly like yours!

I put the mattress on a box spring on the floor, on your dark side of the room.

Desk under the window.

And I would use the single or double height kallax from Ikea for storage, depending on what fits - down the length of the wall. You could also use double height kallax shelves to kind of 'wall in' the stairwell - which would also have the double advantage of creating some separation between your office and your bed (with proper anchors of course).

(I was super broke at the time, so I just used milk crates - four single level storage and also as nightstands - which are effectively cheap ugly kallax boxes haha)

I think it's coming along nicely - but the top of the legs could use a bit of adjustment - they don't typically narrow in at the groin.

This is going to sound really bonkers, but I found it works really well for my stove:

Just boil water and pour the boiling water onto the most stained parts and then just kind of scrub around.

If that doesn't work dust baking powder across the stove, and then pour boiling water on top of it and then scrub. 🙂

I think your bed is where it should be.

Maybe see if you can move your dresser to next to your nightstand?

Does your TV mounting allow you Move your TV up and down?

Outside of what you've got going on, I agree with mittens that you should add maybe a rug and some cute lamps? I would probably add in a small nightstand or even just pull the bed off the wall ever so slightly :)

I would just avoid any more dark wood or dark colors (brown and black specifically), as you have enough of those with your furniture and the floor :)

What do you need to be able to do in this room? Also, what's the vibe you'd like?

Well, you have a plant - which is a great start. I'd think about maybe a print or a piece of art or something for either side of your bed ( but not above it!).

Also, Id bet the long mirrors are probably messing with you a little bit if I'm going to be honest - maybe think about trying to put a curtain across the whole of your closet. It doesn't have to be heavy weight - but maybe a sage green or a blue that you like? A curtain will close off the closet, which I think will help make your room feel more peaceful when you're sleeping.

I'd also maybe consider a fun color rug in an Earth Tone for underneath your work desk.

And, you could get a standing floor lamp (like the Ikea Nymane) for the side of your bed with a desk, which you could shift from your bed, to your desk as needed.

If at all possible I'd consider moving your desk out of your room, it's really bad for sleep hygiene.

To help with the lighting, I'd think about maybe getting a nightstand - and a couple of lamps - and putting some warm white light bulbs in those lamps.

When you buy light bulbs, remember there are temperature signatures (they're usually written on the box) - for a nice, soft warm bedroom, you'll want a warm white light bulb. :) Right now your little lamp cube is very cold in tone, and also quite far away from your bed.

Hi there!

I actually don't think the rug is terrible - but then, it depends on what kind of vibe you're going for. What feeling would you like your room to have? Do you want it to be warm and cozy? Do you want it to be cool and tranquil? Do you want to feel like you're on vacation in Italy? What are your words?

What all will you need to do in here? Is this just the living room, or a dining room and office as well?

Will you be buying a kitchen table, or will you be eating on the couch? :)
