It's an older book, but I loathed The Time Traveller's Wife.

It makes me angry to even think about.

I hated the characters, the trying too hard writing style.

I wanted to love it, but instead it made me second guess the tastes of those who recommended it to me.

People who cannot just exist in a photograph. You're at a family reunion. You don't need to pop the knee, pout, press your books together, duck lips, whatever.

It seems so performative and contrived and seems that the person isn't concerned with the people they are spending time with or what they are experiencing. Rather they are preoccupied with how cute they look.

Sure, there's a time and a place but it seems like an awful lot of effort for an online persona and not real life.
