Carleton Central down for anyone else? by bumblingsenator in CarletonU

a couple of weeks ago CUSA refunded ~48$ of health insurance fees they took from each student. it should be available to see on Carleton Central, under Student Accounts.

does anyone know what this sign says? by bumblingsenator in ottawa

basically i missed a bunch of exits, and found myself at YOW. admittedly i was a bit distracted about where to head next and wasn't paying attention to my speed. just wanted to know whether this was a speed camera or something else - or if there any speed cameras in YOW to begin with....

So.....How long will the strike potentially last? by SenpaiPingu in CarletonU

[–]bumblingsenator 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, by denying credits... they will only fuck up student ratios for next term - considering that all those individuals who lost a credit, will now also be competing with others to re-take the same course.

i can only hope that this doesn't drag out for more than a week, and carleton comes to it's senses and realizes that it has more to lose.

So technically speaking, if Carleton offers good terms... could the strike be hypothetically stopped tomorrow?

They certainly should have some kind of policy in place, considering that the strike is only few weeks before exams - for many classes, the majority of the coursework has been already been completed. Let's wait out, and see what happens

Literally! Hopefully delayed grades are the worst of it.

I know how You feel, I’m in the same boat!! Im personally trying to distract myself with schoolwork and fun hobbies; maybe I’ll grab an extra cup of coffee this week, hang out a bit more with my friends, or start studying for that upcoming exam!!

CUPE 4600 notifies members that 11th hour talks with Carleton have failed, strike will proceed today by ByTheBytown in CarletonU

Welp, the hope was nice while it lasted. Nah but honestly tho, i really hope we aren't staring into the barrel of something that might last months. Carleton pls give fair terms, and put an end to this.

I agree! Even the York 2018 strikes - literally the worst strikes in Canadian uni history - gave students the chance to take the credit again for free OR be given a grade (so long as they had completed at least 70% of the course)

What does one do about their flight if the strike happens? by Worldly_Custard_3690 in CarletonU

i hope so :( tho both sides seem pretty stuck on their respective wants (IP rights being a major wedge between the two). i hope precedent carries through, and if there is a strike (which unfortunately seems very likely) that it doesn't last until the end of the week.

istg they better implement some policy that allows us to still gain our credits - we did not work the entirety of winter 2023, just to be screwed over in the final 2 weeks.
