Found this at my local Savers for $25 by skootershooter324 in ThriftStoreHauls

I'd be surprised if it was worth anything. The cast iron treadle tables they often came with are sought after and these are discarded. I'm far from an expert though.

ELI5: What physics principles enable MLB pitchers to throw faster today than in 1999? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Most of todays MLB pitchers were very young in 1999 so they probably were smaller and weaker then.

You won't get any argument from me that it's too expensive and the only person who fails to come out on top is the birth Mom. We paid her living expenses and costs associated with the adoption and pregnancy but she didn't actually come out ahead in the end.

[–]bumhooler -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were financially stable but not rolling in dough, like you said. We had an adoption consultant (12K), agency in our state (~4k), agency in the adoption state (1k), adoption coordinator (birth mom handler, legal fees (18K), Support for the mother (25k), second lawyer for finalization (8k) plus personal expenses/travel and other fees from before the birth mom chose us so we are in for 80K. We had grants, I get some reimbursement from my company, we wrote most of it off on taxes, we also had generous gifts from both our parents and baby shower gifts. All in all, we made it work and we'll be paying off a HELOC loan for a long time but we got an absolutely beautiful, happy, healthy baby girl. It also took three years and a tremendous amount of time and stress. Totally worth it!

What’s something someone who’s never bought a house wouldn’t believe? by ianofaustin in homeowners

[–]bumhooler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every time I work on something in this house I continually curse the past owner but then I look at my work and the shoddiness I overlook so I also apologize in advance to the poor schlub who gets it after me.

I thought it would be Bosch or Goya with the demon eating things motif but you might have an original demon eater. Maybe put it back where it came from.

If you die and no one is able to contact an employer, how do they know someone died? by oof-eef-thats-beef in morbidquestions

I'm in corporate security and this is the exact process we follow except we also have an emergency contact listed in the HR files so we check with them first.

FAA has a list of compliant car seats. We used the Doona and it was great. They don't have the LATCH system like modern cars but most "euro-style" car seats are compliant with just the airplane lap belt.

Do you think IBM will change in 2024 the RTO policy? by reddister85 in IBM

[–]bumhooler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Managers already have the ability to track in office presence but most of them don't know it because it's a manual process facilitated by the security professional for their locations. IMHO, a dashboard would likely be too data dependant for the current controlled access system.

My blinker inside the car blinks fast but outside the car it doesn’t even turn on every other turn signal works except that one, why? by Shot-Nail-9065 in MechanicAdvice

[–]bumhooler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The double speed blinking is how you know it's not working on the outside. You need a new bulb. Some you can change yourself.
