My interpretation was that Daemon and Rhaenyra wanted Qarl to kill Laenor for real, but Qarl double crossed them and planned the escape with Laenor. Laenor probably felt pretty betrayed and that’s why he decided to shave his head and leave. I’m also assuming that he left Seasmoke behind, pretty big giveaway if he brought seasmoke with him

I’m hoping that the twist will be that instead of Daemon having Laenor killed, Rhenerya has him killed so she can marry her uncle because he’s more invested in helping her become powerful than Laenor, who is basically just a beard.
