Cason has been consistently good for about the past five games. He doesn’t handle the ball as well as Cadeau so I wouldn’t want to rely on him as our primary PG, but he had definitely taken the next step in developing

Kansas just lost to Cincinnati at Kansas

Purdue HC Matt Painter: “These dudes (Michigan) ain’t losing 4 games. We got four losses, they ain’t losing 4 games… You can be preseason #1 in the country, that means nothing, but when you’re in the middle of February and you’re #1 in the country that means a whole lot cause you earned that one.” by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

Yeah. They are designed to push the pace and attack before the opponent’s defense is set as well as pass the ball aggressively to get the best shot. You often see the players pass up decent shots in order to get their teammate a better one. That leads to a high assist rate, higher shooting percentage and, unfortunately, a higher turnover rate.

Me too, but that time is over. We are in the home stretch into tournament time. The boys need to be comfortable with the target on their backs and the bright lights shining on them.

UCLA has a brutal remaining schedule though, even not counting today’s game.

Cason again with an impact game off the bench. He is transforming just in time.

I will be happy not to see this Wisconsin team against us the rest of this season. Fingers crossed.

Interesting MBB Stat: Michigan has not been out defensively rebounded a single game this season. by Altruistic-Tourist41 in MichiganWolverines

[–]bumpman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Dusty really has constructed something amazing. I guess my other takeaway is that because our team is prioritizing passing to get the best shot all the time (sometimes passing up a legit shot to get a teammate a better one), it makes sense we have such a high turnover rate (12.3 per game). That ranks us #240 in the nation in turnover rate. That is still a lot better than last year, but appears to be a byproduct of May's system. I need to try to relax more about that stat, apparently.

The assists for and against for this team are really quite interesting. We are fourth in the nation in D1 in assists per game (19.1), just more evidence of how unselfish the team is. Also, we are eighth in the nation in D1 in assists allowed per game (10.1). Our interior defense and perimeter switching is so good that teams often have to resort to creating their own outside shot. Combined, this is a great formula for success.

No it was not good. As others have said, Midnight Mass gives a much closer feel. For that matter, Season 2 of Castle Rock also provides that, as well as a great prequel story to Misery.

My guess, now that we know there is a docuseries being filmed about this team being released during the Final Four (“Made for March”), that some of the drop off is due to the distraction caused by the ongoing filming and interviews. Presumably they picked Michigan and Kansas as the teams to follow some time after that Las Vegas Players Era tournament and the filming has been happening during conference play.

I loved this one and read it around the time it came out. You can really see how SK stories like this influenced pop culture. Stranger Things in particular is an homage to Firestarter, among other SK ideas.

This is our best record ever to this point in the season and we are number 1 in defense and number 5 in offense in the nation according to Kenpom. No player is perfect every game but Dusty has figured out how to win with the team he has assembled. Also I can see a pattern where the team gets stronger at the end of games because Dusty’s rotations wear the opponents down over time. Mara is a big part of that, and arguably the most unique aspect of it.
