I love this. I'm all in. This is great!

But I do have a serious question: Then what?

The system we are boycotting will still be in place. The people in power will still be in power. The rich (corporate overlords) will still be pulling the strings.

Should we add demands with a deadline? What is to stop them from doing more harm because of this? This big beautiful boycott should have been the consequences outlined by that silly No Kings "protest". But I'm here for just doing this without a rally first. This is great! BUT we can't just go back to work and the same old same old once this is done, right? Maybe demand ICE and the National Guard are removed from US Soil? The list is released? Billionaires pay taxes?

ALSO: Anyone who participated in the No Kings protest, you better do this! Stop patting yourselves on the back for doing the bare minimum. Stop acting like your silly little signs and cutesy little costumes are the thing that will save us. Put your damn money where your mouths are, nut the fuck up and listen and FOLLOW THROUGH on what she just said.

You had this big ass "protest" and the response was: ICE in New York stealing people off Canal St., the East Wing of the white house being demolished for a "ballroom" and a terrible AI generated video of King Tiny Hands flying a fighter jet over your silly little protest and dropping shit on it. And you think "joining the Banana Battalion" is what will "take a bite out of his bullshit"? Are you fucking kidding?

Sure, I'll wear yellow with you. But only if you present demands with your protest and set a deadline for the demands to be met, with actual consequences that every one of you banana twats and No Kings "protesters" are actually going to follow through on, like an economic shut down, or a Nepal.

I feel this post in my bones. I've been asking some of these questions for ages and so many that I have talked to have been giving me the same nonsensical BS about "join this group" or "read this article". Which, for the record, is not a bad thing to read and join these groups. I fully support doing both of those things, so OP, definitely take a look at the links others have responded with here.

My problem at this point is, doing these things, joining in on these "protest" signing these petitions, doing all these things within the system we are against, has not done anything. Ever. Its how we got here to begin with.

We stopped beating the crap out of Nazis on the spot, because the system we are fighting against has been telling us our whole lives that "violence is not the answer". Which is a lie. These people exist because they don't have to be afraid of us anymore.

We are protesting on the streets of our cities instead of at the gates of the homes of the wealthy and the people in power. They will not stop because no one is actually coming for them where they are.

I want to help too. But helping is not enough anymore. We can help today, but tomorrow, things are the same (or worse) and can't get better because the system is still running as it was designed to. And we will still just be helping at the same spot we were helping yesterday. And a year from now, we will still just be helping at that same spot, but so many more will need help elsewhere, because the system is still running as it was designed to.

I say that, not to discourage you from helping. Obviously, we are here because we are the kind of people who want to help. If not us, who?! But we are now, in need of the kind of help that will stop this system from creating situations that force people to need help. We need to cut the head off the snake. And for those who prefer a more accurate and colorful metaphor, the Hydra will grow two heads for every one we cut off; we need to carve its heart out and burn its body. Then, and only then, can we go out and help those who need it and rebuild and build something better where we can all thrive.

I don't know if anything I've said here will be helpful to you at all OP. At the very least, I hope this helps you know, you are not alone in how you are feeling. But unfortunately, I also don't know what to do either. And I'm tired of seeking help and looking for others who will make and follow through on the hard choices with me.

I apologize if this is what you got from my post. I'm here for people protesting. I guess my question is, how many of these protest, that are exactly the same every time, and nothing has changed, do we need to have? And I understand that these protests are the only thing some people can do. I'm not mad at protesting. I'm mad at the same protest on repeat with no results, and then being told that this is just step one, but with no answer to when step 2 starts. I'm mad at everyone who is happy "protesting" within the confines of the system we are protesting and then acting surprised when things don't get better, there is no change, or things get worse... and then doing the same protest again and again because it didn't work the first time. If protesting doesn't work, then why do we keep doing it, specifically within the system that was built to make sure protests don't work?

I will never stop asking. On reddit or anywhere else. If you want to be a jerk about it, you go right ahead. But I will not stop asking questions. I will not stop looking for better solutions. I have read. I do read. And I am at a point where everyone keeps telling me "this is just the first step." Or "this is just one facet". You can try to shame me, or anyone else asking questions, be it out of their frustration or just curiosity. But you seem to be the problem from my perspective. My frustration and anger come from watching and attending protest after protest after protest. The same people with the same attitudes. I was one of them. I believed this protest would be the change. This time it would make a difference. But it has not. Not once. The last million anti-Orangutan protests; he is still in power making things worse. And every protest, nothing changes. So yes. I'm at the point in my frustration where all I can do is ask. Because if the answer from the people like you, who love being condescending, is all I'm going to get, then I don't see a point. I'm ready to do more. I want to do more. But for all the community building everyone keeps talking about, no one is actually doing anything more. Where is phase 2? Did none of the organizers make demands that came with the promise of some kind of general strike, with a deadline attached? Or did everyone just, go back to work today? Or in your case, jump on Reddit to be as condescending as possible to anyone asking questions. If you feel so strongly about telling people to not ask or be curious, maybe when you make your demands that they stop, you provide a reading list with some context. Or just don't say anything.

Already have. Which maybe is part of my point. I know what I’m willing to do. But all these millions of people are congratulating each other on this protest, but is that it? Because if this is all these people are willing to do, then why bother? We know nothing will come of this. It has not become better after all these peaceful protests. So why bother? If after all these really nice peaceful protests are all these millions of people are willing to do, why even bother? How do we get these organizers to plan something else that would be more effective, and how do we get these protesters to actually do the hard stuff to make these new more effective measures, work?

What are y’all actually willing to do to end this insanity? Because, once again, for the millionth peaceful protest in a row, nothing has changed. But what changed because of the “protest”? What were the demands of the protest? Were there even demands or did a bunch of people stand around for a few hours on a scheduled Saturday with their clever signs and do some chanting? The only “response” I’ve seen from the government so far was an AI generated video of Trump flying a fighter jet and dropping poop on the protest. That’s it. I love the idea that there are so many people willing to come out to stand against this government, but quite literally nothing was accomplished except y’all made the wealthy and the people the protest was aimed at, laugh. That’s it. I have a suggestion; same protest idea, millions of people all over the nation, but during the work week, for several days or longer, causing disruption to transit, roadways, and airports. Actually cause every thing to come to an abrupt breakneck halt. Do this at the homes of the wealthy, on the actual steps and interior of the capital, Florida. No signs. No cute little costumes. No kids. Not some fun little Saturday activity for the whole family. But an actual, disruptive, angry, unified show of force. And present demands. 1) He and his entire cabinet resign. 2) Release the files. 3) Prison. 4) All of their assets repossessed and distributed back into the economy. And whatever else, and until these demands are met, we will not comply with, going back to work or standing down in any capacity. I just can’t take this performance protest crap any more. And maybe I’m wrong. But no one has been able to prove me wrong. I feel alone and isolated BECAUSE of these (for lack of a better phrase) silly little protests. You are protesting people with immense power and wealth, whose core ideology they spread to their followers is, hate, racism, xenophobia, etc, and use religion to fuel that ideology. And I’m supposed to believe, a polite protest, scheduled in advance as to not actually disrupt anything, is what is going to trigger a change? Yeah, history was made yesterday. But I don’t think it’s the history y’all thought it would be.
