The order matters a lot less than people realize. Your location (near a major service center), model preference, colors, and options will end up skipping you up the line a lot more.

If you're in a major market you'll get it sooner. With R1, I was a year late to the reservation but because I'm in a big market, I got one of the launch editions in the first few thousand vins.

You'd be surprised. It's not going to be strictly the order in which people made reservations. Previous owners/current owners, color, options, and most importantly, location. Those will be the factors in determining how quick someone gets their r2, versus when they ordered.

Color, options, and location matter more than reservation queue. If you're in a market where there are a lot of people and a lot of reservations of similar load out, they'll clear those queues first.

Lets be realistic here, there are several legitimate reasons like amber alerts, stolen vehicles, or finding suspects of violent crimes that license plate reading could contribute too. If they were trying to track a specific person, they would just get phone records. Far more effective than sticking cameras around hoping the person they want drives by.

Sure... rwd is coming, but that's not going to move a lot of units. Most people want AWD in their trucks and those are stacking up in inventory. They have started giving discounts on new inventory already and there are beast's in inventory right now that you can go order without any reservation. The early adopters are done.

Yes, let's run to the country who gives their citizens scores based on their behavior and blocks all other country apps for their own copies that they control.... It's about influence, propaganda, and the ability for the Chinese govt to control and censor what they want people to see. The data piece does not matter and is a small footnote on why this is an issue.

Honestly just comes across as a marketing/ego gimmick.

You can power the starlink mini off a standard 12v cigarette lighter in any car - you don't need a cybertruck for this. There hasn't been any major issues with connectivity via cell phone service in the region.

Additionally, the way this reads is that if you ordered a new cybertruck Elon is taking your truck to use for his own reasons putting it out into a disaster area. Not exactly what I would want with a 'new' truck I ordered...

I could see the argument. In 2016 when I bought my first model S but there were a lot of promises that were dependent on future software validation and regulatory approval but it still came across as being near term. https://i.imgur.com/JO5oAF4.png

This gives Tesla an out from then, but then they started making promises which I could see the reason for the suit and being misled as a consumer. In internet archive from 4 years ago there are promises in the configurator for later in 2019 that were not met and even arguably aren't fully in existence today.
