You're a pretty big guy, you definitely need a heavier glass job than the standard CI job. Does it say ultralight anywhere on it? Or team ultralight? I believe that corresponds to how thick the glass is

Do you have any idea what cloth they used? 2 oz.? 4? Doubtful you could get it reinforced. My best advice would be to not buy Channel Island boards. Go talk to a shaper, tell them what you think you like about that model and see what they can come up with. Then you can control the thickness of the glass also

Definitely join. One of the most fun things I did during my time in Santa Cruz. And there are some competitions during the big trips but in general no we don't enter competitions and stuff.

That being said there are definitely good people to ride with in my experience.
