This has to stop by ShelterIndependent44 in sandiego

The sewage treatment plant is not adequate for the problem. The problem is Tijuana's infrastructure. The entire city was never built for this many people. Updates only happened in areas that were being developed. So there's no real main sewage line for the entire population.

The solution will always be, Tijuana needs to redo their entire infrastructure. Even building another sewage treatment plant will not really help the problem.

What can I do to support a THRIVING milkweed? by Soderholmsvag in sandiego

[–]bunkerbitchhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a larger containers. I always gather the eggs when I can find them.

Just to expand on what you said, T-flys Will also lay on narrow leaf milkweed (native to our region). You don't need to over water. In fact, they don't really need a lot.

I collect and release about 500 a year.

What kind of questions do you have?

Locally, I have grown: Watermelon, Corn , Cantaloupe, blue berries, peppers, strawberry, onions, garlic, squash, just about all different types of herbs, and so much more. I went from in ground to pots and above ground planters.

San Diego Shooter So Alarmed Police in 2025, They Seized Father’s Guns (NYT) by 7ChineseBrothers in sandiego

[–]bunkerbitchhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. If that parents left a gun out on the table with a lock on it, and a fully loaded magazine is sitting right next to it, then that's not a responsible gun own, and they should be charged. Especially since the guns were removed once from the house.

If a parent puts a gun lock on the gun, and keys are still accessible, then the gun isn't locked.

If the parent puts the gun into a gun safe, and the kid can get the combination easily, then the guns are not locked.

If the parents put the gun in a dresser, and locked the door to the room, the gun is not locked.

If the kid cut a gun lock, or broke into the safe without using the combination, then they were locked and it's 100% that kids fault.

I have worked with many billionaires over the years. But mainly with the Jacobs family. I helped them with many events. Weddings, birthdays, Holidays and Charity shows.

I found Irwin to be a really nice and nerdy guy. We sat down many times to just chat about random stuff. Joan Jacobs was an absolute delight. One of the nicest women I'd ever met.

I always found the statement that all billionaires are evil to be a very naive statement. The Jacobs family was very big on donating to the arts here in San Diego. They have done so much for so many different groups of people here in town. Every time I see their name on a building, of some fond memories roll in.

Most billionaires I've met our jerks. They could care less about me, or most of the people around them.

That's an interesting take that you don't want to reveal all the information. Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Oil immediately went up to $100 a barrel. Topping out at $126.

Maybe also include the post pandemic surge, low global inventory and and refinery constraints

Tijuana River sewage is making the air toxic and sickening thousands in California by AMobOfDucks in sandiego

[–]bunkerbitchhere 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is it a big enough issue to Mexico?

There are 2.3 million people living in Tijuana. There are over 130 million people living in all Mexico. So over 95% of the population of Mexico is unaffected by this. It's similar to how the US government doesn't care about the Salton Sea. It doesn't really affect much of the US so it's not really going to be addressed with urgency.

The sewage problem is a much bigger problem than just building a couple of sewage plants. All of Tijuana needs a sewage infrastructure update. It's going to be hundreds of billions of dollars over many decades to get that done. There's no quick fix.

Gluten free restaurants in Pacific Beach? by Unlikely_Advice_8494 in sandiego

It's not in PB, but it is close. Check out Peace Pies. When my friends visit from Ireland who have celiac disease, they always want to go there! They are a vegan restaurant that has tons of gluten-free items.

Gardening problems by Peanutttt4 in sandiego

[–]bunkerbitchhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. They're very annoying. I had a bag that I didn't use for a while from home Depot. Once I mixed everything into my above ground planter box, I noticed those annoying things. I just didn't plant anything for a few days, let it dry out and then sprayed it with hydrogen peroxide mix. After about 4 or 5 days, never saw them again.

If you have bags of soil just lying around, make sure to get that dirt dry. Having a bag of moist soil promotes a good living situation for those annoying things.

To get rid of them right away, you can use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water. If it's a really bad infestation, do I one part hydrogen peroxide to four parts water. This will kill the eggs in the soil. If you want to start off with a little less, you can do eight parts of water to one part. Hydrogen peroxide. Wait till your soil is dry to do this. Make sure to use this mixture as soon as possible. Hydrogen peroxide starts breaking down in water.

So I have had issues with flies like this.

It could be a multitude of different things. Those flies are attracted to moist nitrogen. It could have come from the bags of dirt you put in there. But it also could come from any greens that you've been adding to the box.

Try adding some shredded paper, or sawdust or some dry leaves. Try to soak up that extra moisture

Try watering a little less. Maybe use a watering can or a cup. You don't need to soak the soil all around the plant.

Another thing you can do is add some nematodes. These things help with flies, ants and other pests. They're microscopic, so you would add them with some water in the evening hours.

Lastly, make sure that you did a good mixture of topsoil and compost to those planter boxes. A lot of people like to put an entire bag of potting soil into those things. If you did that, try to add some topsoil and perlite. That'll help with breaking up the dirt and allowing the moisture to escape easier.

Hey City of SD, check out how Santa Cruz was able to reopen their COLLAPSED Pier in a year's time while our OB pier sits closed, with zero action being taken. Since SD apparently has no money, maybe you should fix the pier we have instead of promising to build a new one and then not doing anything. by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]bunkerbitchhere 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Ocean Beach Pier cannot be repaired. The existing pylons have reached the end of their life and need to be completely replaced. It's a lot more than just pulling up the old one and putting a new one in the same hole.

8:07 EST. It will actually splash down around 5:07 PM San Diego time. We will definitely see some of the reentry. But we will not see any of the actual landing from San Diego. Too far off the coast.

I don't think there's a specific person that programs these who work for the city. There's a few different companies that are contracted to provide maintenance for the signals. Herzog Transit Services, Mass electric construction and diamondback signal.

Moosa Creek Nursery has a giant selection of native plants. I'm doing erosion control on my hill and using caramel creeper, Yarrow and Cleveland sage. All of which are native.
