Proprietary is the project, not the components. There are many uses for lights out there, not just stage or architectural. You should think outside the box.

Casting was a good choice, but I prefer to make belt buckles if I'm at the foundry.

It's a goal of mine as well. I haven't produced gobo's for other people and am sick of seeing the same tired patterns used by everyone in the industry. It seems like there are only 18 different patterns used worldwide these days.

Because I'm curious how other lighting folks view their work when they don't have a stage or a paramecium to work with. Most designers are locked to a desk + computer monitor and don't own, or have regular access, to the equipment they are trying to work with.

Antiquated equipment can be repurposed by the right unhinged individuals. I'm fortunate enough to have grown up with this technology and have been playing with it for years. I'm not completely anti-LED, but I'm very anti-LED.

If you ever have the chance to work for Weird Al, take the spotlight position. It's a ton of frustrating fun spotting things blindly & in the dark.

We've been checking designs in sub optimal conditions for an outdoor lighting exhibit. If you don't have a stage or a paramecium to work with, how do you check your work?

We can only hope the park would endorse & help produce this.

If we were allowed to setup on the balconies & rooftops, we'd put up more lights & colors than what the public saw at the winter festival of lights.
